Alvin Lavell “Velly Vell” Simmons was born October 8, 1984, in Chicago, Illinois to the proud parents of Vanessa Simmons and Elvis Benson. Alvin accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Hughes Elementary School and Manley High School. Alvin loved playing baseball and spending time with his family and friends. God called Alvin home on March 19, 2021. Alvin Lavell is preceded in death by: grandmother, Abigail Simmons; two grandfathers, Reverend Leonard Sanders and Charles Simmons, Sr.; aunt, Mattie Simmons; three uncles, Charles Simmons, Jr., Danny Simmons, and Fred Simmons; great-uncle, Exoxus Simmons; nephew, Eric Hines, Jr.; and cousin, Varick Hines.
