Alvin Lavell Simmons

Alvin Lavell “Velly Vell” Simmons was born October 8, 1984, in Chicago, Illinois to the proud parents of Vanessa Simmons and Elvis Benson. Alvin accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Hughes Elementary School and Manley High School. Alvin loved playing baseball and spending time with his family and friends. God called Alvin home on March 19, 2021. Alvin Lavell is preceded in death by: grandmother, Abigail Simmons; two grandfathers, Reverend Leonard Sanders and Charles Simmons, Sr.; aunt, Mattie Simmons; three uncles, Charles Simmons, Jr., Danny Simmons, and Fred Simmons; great-uncle, Exoxus Simmons; nephew, Eric Hines, Jr.; and cousin, Varick Hines. Alvin leaves to cherish his memories his: mother, Vanessa Simmons; father, Elvis Benson; daughter, Lazariah Simmons; son, Alvin Simmons, Jr.; stepdaughter, Mayanti Brown; four brothers, Eric Hines, Marcel Simmons, Napolian Simmons, and Lazarius Hines; stepbrother, Michael Webb, Jr.; grandmother, Evangelist Bobbie Sanders; three aunties, Janice Jones, Dorothy Hines, and Tina Sanders; great-aunt, Ruby Taylor; uncle, Darrell Sanders (Linda); great-uncle,  eodis Hines; godfather, Lester Teague; godmother, Ti ny Summers (Terrance); cousin who spent his last days with him, Mark Simmons; three special cousins who grew up with him, Deon Hines and Larry Simmons; two special uncles, Carl “Killa” and Bobby “Main”; special friend, Mayloa Moses; friend, Ciara Parker, godson, Isaiah Hines, goddaughter, Abby Simmons; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
