Anna Lee Miller was born on March 17, 1952, in Hernando, Mississippi, to her loving parents, Lillie B. Miller and Leonard “Pep” Miller. The Miller family were longstanding members of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where Anna’s faith began to blossom alongside her family. Later, when they relocated to Chicago, Anna attended The Church of God with her mother and brother, continuing her spiritual journey and forming lasting connections within the congregation. In 2017, Anna moved to Memphis, Tennessee, and joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Tommie McCray, Jr. Anna’s devotion to God and her unwavering faith were evident in her joyful worship and love for gospel music. Despite being legally blind, Anna’s gentle spirit touched everyone she met. She never complained, and her humility inspired those around her to give her the best quality of life. One special memory that stands out is Anna’s habit of greeting everyone she met with a warm smile and encouraging words, uplifting friends and family, even on their hardest days. Anna enjoyed watching soap operas, listening to gospel music, and savoring her favorite meals. She especially loved seafood, soul food, and desserts, and was fondly remembered for her hearty appetite and enthusiastic enjoyment of every meal shared with loved ones. As Anna’s health began to decline, she moved to The Pearl of Hillside, where she resided for the last ten months of her life. She was well-known there for her quiet spirit and radiant smile, bringing comfort and joy to staff and fellow residents alike. On April 11, 2026, Anna’s gentle soul departed to join her Savior “in that house not built with hands, but whose maker and builder is God.” Anna Lee was preceded in death by her daughter, Annette Miller; mother, Lillie B. Miller; bonus mother, Hattie Mae Miller; father, Leonard “Pep” Miller; three sisters, Mary Lee Miller, Arlisa Miller, and Dorothy Dukes; and brother, Bobby Miller. She is survived by her daughter, Dorea Cassie Miller (Deborah); grandsons, Marquel Ware and Deboraion Ware; great grandchildren, Marquel Jr., Isaiah, and Marcel Ware; four sisters, Ruthie Miller (Antwoyen), Erma Tate (Alvin), Louise Smith (Michael), and Brenda Rose; three brothers, James Miller (Bobbie), Frank Miller (Linda), and Richard Young; a host of nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Miss Willie. Anna’s memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
