Anthony Gooden, Sr. Also known as “Strength” was born on October 30, 1965 to Eddie Lee Gooden and Charstine Marshall-Gooden in Chicago, Illinois. They both preceded him in death. His grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. Charlie Marshall and Mr. And Mrs. Walter Gooden, Sr. Also preceded him in death. Anthony Sr. Attended Marconi High School in Chicago, Illinois. As a young boy, his mom kept him involved in church regularly. He traveled to and from Louisiana and Chicago growing up. Anthony Sr. was a retired bus operator at Chicago Transit Authority out of Chicago Avenue and Kedzie Garage. Anthony Sr. Was loved and known by many. He loved family, BBQ-ing, listening to music, and attending social gatherings. He was well known for fixing and repairing almost any and everything. He was very hardworking, and he dedicated his life to being the provider and protector of the family. Anthony Sr. Impacted so many people with his big smile, his laughter, and his kind friendly spirit. He was a real stand-up guy. Our sweet Anthony sadly passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Anthony Sr. Was a devoted husband, wonderful father, brother, son-in-law, grandfather, uncle and a good friend. His legacy will continue on through his children and grandkids. Anthony Sr. Was survived by his loving wife Jamie OwensGooden, brother, Alan Gooden, sisters-in-law, Josetta Powe and Cvita Owens, motherin-law, Jeanette Owens, Five children, Christina Gooden (Don), Ashley Gooden-Page (Tyrone Sr.), Anthony Gooden Jr, Jamell Gooden, and Jamon Gooden, 10 grandkids, Doniah, Tyrone Jr, Ty’riana, Princess, Donquell, Payton, Dontrell, Anthony III, Journee, Jamell Jr, two godchildren, Shenea Austin and Shawn Thompson, one god sister, Lydia Williams. Anthony Sr. Has a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and plenty of friends.
