Apostle Walter Poston Obituary

Apostle Walter L. Poston, the third of eight children, was born December 28, 1957 in Chicago, IL to the late Donald Poston and Mary Lites. As a teenager he loved playing baseball and was offered to try out for a Chicago Minor League Team. He later became a self-taught bass guitar player and played for many events and churches. Poston graduated from Hirsh Metropolitan High School and immediately left Chicago to serve in the United States Army. After basic training, he was deployed to Butzbach, Germany and assigned to the 564 Military Police Department. While on a military leave, he returned to Chicago and his high school friend LaCalton Williams witnessed the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST to him, and he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was later baptized at Ayers Chapel Church of God in Christ (COGIC) in Kirchgoens, West Germany and later filled with the Holy Ghost. He attended Bible College and completed Biblical Studies while serving his country in the Arm Forces. After returning to the United States, he joined St. John COGIC, where he was trained in outreach ministry for street witnessing and preaching. He also joined and served in ministry with Reeves Temple and Abounding Life COGIC churches until GOD called him to pastor House of Refuge - COGIC of Park Forest, Illinois. Professionally, Poston was employed as a Certified Pharmaceutical Technician and department supervisor at a Chicago Suburban Hospital. After relocating to Nevada in 2009, he has been employed in Social Service agencies (HELP of Southern Nevada and Chicanos Por La Causa) as an Intense Case Manager, Court Advocate, Veteran’s Outreach Specialist & Mobile Crises Intervention Specialist for homeless individuals and families. As Pastor Poston continued his pastoral and outreach assignments, GOD was at work. He met his wife, Pastor Pamela, working on the Battlefield for the Lord and later married her May 2008. GOD then commissioned them to relocate to Las Vegas, NV to continue their outreach assignments. Together they became the leaders of Highways & Hedges Outreach Ministries (www.Highways4JC.org) a 501(c)(3) Outreach Church. They served throughout the country as Jesus instructed according to Luke 14:23, “And the Lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” Pastor Poston was later elevated to an Overseer in 2011 and then consecrated as an Apostle in August of 2019. He was awarded Las Vegas 2019 Community Leadership Award as “Church Leader” from Community Connect, Inc., of Las Vegas, Nevada. Apostle Poston’s ordination credentials are held through Labourers for Christ (LFC) – Apostolic Ecumenical Network of Kingdom Churches in Chicago, IL. His biblical study credentials are through LFC – Christian Counseling Training Institute in Leadership Training as well as Reformation Ministries – School of the Prophets in Impartation and Activation. He became a trained and certified Texas, Illinois and Nevada volunteer in County and State adult and youth jails, prisons and transitional facilities, serving as a mentor and ministry leader for decades in these capacities. He served the Southern Nevada communities for many years as a client advocate at the Las Vegas First Choice Woman’s Pregnancy Center, a ministry leader at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, Salvation Army and Catholic Charities. While sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, he has fed, clothed, and served the homeless community for decades. He loved ministering with his wife, Pastor Pamela. Their marriage speaks volumes of a reflection of Christ and His church. They have ministered to countless couples for years and seen the Lord restore many broken hearts and relationships. He attributes his loving and successful marriage as a “Power Couple” by a Word-based life and the tutelage of the Holy Spirit. Apostle Poston and his wife are ordained Chaplains through Messages of Faith Ministries Chaplaincy Nevada. Due to their continuous work as frontline leaders, both were promoted to Senior Chaplains and are Prayer Warriors for the national AdoptA-Cop Law Enforcement Prayer Protection Ministry. Apostle Poston co-authored: “Faith Is” ~ Inspiring Stories from Las Vegas Chaplains and “Love Is” ~ Testimonies from Las Vegas Chaplains books on Amazon. He has hosted numerous radio shows on Las Vegas KKVV Radio Station interviewing co-authors and others. On February 25, 2022, Warrior Walter L. Poston transitioned from this earth to a place where there is a “Street paved with gold” (Rev. 21:21). On his departure he leaves to cherish loving memories by: his devoted wife: Pastor Pamela R.
