Ben Darnell Williams was born on April 21, 1971, at Bethany Hospital on Chicago’s West side. A westsider through and through, Ben graduated from Delano Elementary then went on to attend John Marshall High School. Ben had a passion for dogs and he also enjoyed eating good soul food. In 1992, while working at Popeyes Chicken, Ben met the love of his life, Java. e day Ben set eyes on Java was the day he knew she was his wife. Ben and Java married November 15, 1997, and their inseparable union was formed. Together, they gave their lives and hearts to Jesus, and as a family they attend Life Changers Church to praise and worship the Lord together. Ben loved his four boys dearly. To them, he leaves a legacy of love for God and devotion to family. Ben was full of laughter, protector of his siblings, a role model to many and his kindness is remembered by all those he came in contact with. Ben transitioned in his home on July 22, 2025 Ben is preceded in death by very special family members, Willie Mae Gilliand (grandmother), Willie Luckett (Uncle), Jonathan - Bert (brother), and Lula (Godmother.) He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Java; beautiful mother, Mary; mother-in-law Margaret; sons, Laraj, Devon, Quinnton, and Evan; brothers, James (Jr.) and Hakeem; and brother-in-law, Robert; sisters, Gloria (Jean), Christine (Stine), and Jaqueline (Jackie); and sister-in-law, Truvella (Tru); sweet niece, Kanesha (Mu n); uncles; aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, spiritual sons, and daughters.
