Betty Brown Obituary

Betty Ann Brown was born on May 28, 1939, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Denard Watts and Lillie Watts, who both preceded her in death. Betty had nine siblings and one grandchild, Tavares Calhoun, who all preceded her in death. Betty moved to Chicago and then met her husband, Arthur Lee Brown, Sr., who preceded her in death. Into this union four children were born, two of whom preceded her in death, Joyce Brown and Arthur Brown. Betty accepted Christ very early on and was a praying warrior. She first attended her membership under Reverend Clay Evans. She later joined Christian Love Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor B.T Smith, where she continued her spiritual journey under Pastor Steve Nelson until her health started to take a toll on her. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a very loving and caring person. Betty devoted her life to her husband and family with all her heart. She was a homemaker at heart and the cook and baker to her entire family, including her Homan and Monroe families. She would cook like it’s Thanksgiving on any given day and was known for her cakes and homemade ice cream. Betty was a hustler at heart and wore many hats. She owned an ice cream parlor called B&T, she was the snowball lady on Homan and Monroe, and she was known for selling her homemade cakes, homemade ice cream, and Icy cups. Betty was known for her jazziness and her church hats; she stayed fly every time she stepped out. Betty leaves to cherish her precious memories: two daughters, Theresa and Artenese “Ne-C”; one daughter-in-law, Tammy; twelve grandchildren: Terrill (Keisha), Charles Jr. (Tanyelle), Ebony, Cortland “Co-Co,” Cornae “Na-Na,” Melvina, Maurice “Maine,” Terrance “Chucky,” Betty “Ann,” Dravon, Tiara “Te-Te,” and Tacureona “Curie,” along with a host of great- grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
