Brenda Terry Obituary

Brenda Terry was born to the late Albert Wright, Sr., and Retha Wright on September 11, 1963, in Jersey City, New Jersey. A er relocating from New Jersey with her family, she attended John Marshall High School and was known as “the feisty  ghter” where she received her high school diploma. Brenda received Christ during her younger years and was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Aaron Holmes, Sr., of New St. Mark Church in Chicago, Illinois. She enjoyed signing in the choir, and she didn’t mind lending a helping hand in the kitchen and wherever help was needed. Brenda was a member of Garfield Park Community Worship Center under the leadership of her nephew, Pastor DeAntjuan Wright. Brenda met the love of her life, John Terry, in 1989 and united in holy matrimony on January 30, 1992. To this union, her two beautiful girls were born and raised. Brenda and John built a home full of laughter and love with endless memories. Traveling together was their love language. Although she loved her girls, her grandkids were her world. She spent countless hours spending time laughing, joking, and raising her grands. Her love exceeded the test of time, and her legacy will continue to transcend through generations. Brenda was employed at Marklund and exercised her passion for helping others. Upon retiring, she continued in her passion with her honorary home daycare. She had a special love and care for many children, especially those girls. She had a unique way of showing her love and didn’t mind telling you THE TRUTH. “I mean what I say and say what I mean.” Even to her mother!! You could always brighten Brenda’s day with a cold bottle of Pepsi, no cans! Brenda enjoyed family time with her siblings, nieces, and nephews. She enjoyed priceless moments with her loved ones and cherished each moment.  ere would always be food, music, laughter and games. Brenda was always down for the next vacation. “Where to next,” she’d always ask. Brenda departed this earthly life peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Elmhurst Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Wright, Sr. Brenda leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband of 32 years, John Terry; her three beautiful girls, Samantha, Jessica, and Arkeshia (Travis Jr.) Marks; one son Jurnell Terry; six grandchildren, Da’Ziyah, Da’Ziyon, Da’Riyah, Travis III, Torian, and her favorite, Terri “Tutts”; loving mother, Retha Wright; three sisters, Linda Wright, Janet (Anthony) Poindexter, and Liz (Tim) WrightIdowu; two brothers, Howard Wright (Sheila), and Stanley Wright; two life-long friends, Karla and Carolyn; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
