Bruce Ivan Pitts was born on January 7, 1948. He was the rst of seven children born to Ivory and Arlene Pitts in Chicago, Illinois. Bruce’s parents; brothers Harold, Ronald, and Lawrence; and sisters Linda and Anita proceeded him in death. Bruce received his formal education at Marshall High School in Chicago, Illinois. He continued his education at Malcom X College, Chicago, Illinois, until he was drafted to serve in the military. He was placed with the US Navy where he served six years as a 911- Water Transportation Occupation Sailor. After his military career, Bruce, worked at Hot Point Industrial, Can eld’s Soda Company, Hillsborough Area Rapid Transit (HART), Church Hill Cabinet Company, and at the United States Postal Service as a workaholic TRAILBLAZING TRUCK DRIVER. Junnie, as he was a ectionately called, was the family jokester and prankster! He had several hobbies, which included shing, working on automobiles, and planning family gatherings. Most importantly, he loved family road trips. Bruce met the love of his life, Blanch, at a local bowling alley. ey were united in holy matrimony on March 9, 1974. Five children were born to their union. Bruce accepted Christ as his personal savior at First Baptist Congregation, Chicago, Illinois. Bruce valued putting family rst and being of service, and he instilled those values to his children. Bruce’s personality was like no other. He was full of laughter and could always light up a room with his smile and wit. He looked forward to taking the entire family to Eufala, Oklahoma to attend the West Family Reunion. He was very proud to be a part of the family’s planning and cooking committee. He was a proud member of the Stockbridge Muncee Tribe of the Iroquois Nation. On November 16, 2024, Bruce Ivan Pitts, passed away peacefully at the age of 76. Bruce is survived by his wife Blanch; his children ( Andrea (Stacy), Ivan, Paulette, Alacia (Isiah), and Brittney); sister Latessa (Kent); nieces and nephews; friends (John Earl, Kathrian, Gregory, Sharon); eleven grandchildren (Aunajay, Andrew, Tylor, Illysse, Illyah, Celette, Julia (Jules), Akaira, Aria, Korbin, and Kairo); and seven great-grandchildren (Arieon, Sir, Sire, Luna, Isis, Novah, and Noah). He will be greatly missed and forever remembered as BIG MAN, MY PAPA, SLEEPYHEAD, and BALD EAGLE.
