Charlestine Gibson Moore was born November 25, 1940, to the union of Lula and Charlie Gibson in Chicago, Illinois. Charlestine was the second oldest of nine children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Floyd, Aaron, Richard, and Eloise Wilson.
Charlestine learned to love the Lord at an early age and was baptized at Shiloah Baptist Church in February of 1954. She later joined New Holy Zion and served as the church treasurer.
Charlestine attended Gladstone Elementary School and graduated from Lucy Flower High School in June 1958. She attended Harold Washington, formerly Loop College, focusing on accounting.
Charlestine loved and married Willie James Moore on March 25, 1959. To this union, five children, Derrick, Pamela, Lionel, Wendell, and Ron were born.
Charlestine worked part-time at Alden for Christmas holidays in 1965 before starting at the Institute of Psychology. She started employment at CNA in 1978, and remained there until 1998. She retired for six months, and when she was called out of retirement, she worked until 2003. She was the Block Club president for many years, organizing various events and working with the Precinct Captain, and Alderman and Ward Superintendent. She also worked on the committee to organize the Community Christmas Party.
She enjoyed flower gardening and creating beautiful bouquets to showcase her green thumb. The toss salad was her assignment for all family gatherings. If it were ten people, she made enough for twenty people. Rice pudding was also one of her favorites, and Ron got to get it all. She loved entertaining her family. We never thought when we went to the hospital on July 17 that she would never come back home. She battled multiple health issues until God called her and she got her wings on Friday, October 14, 2022.
She leaves to mourn: five children, Derrick, Pamela, Lionel (Yolanda), Wendell (Deneen), and Ron; twelve grandchildren, Nicole (Eric), Ciera, Brandon, Ryan, Nikia, Javaris, BréShey, Lance (Bethany), Krystal, Alexis, Jaylen, and Casandra; nine great-grandchildren, Temiya, Kennedy, Aiden, Lauren, Chase, Brandon II, Saige, Bliss, Robynn, and one on the way; four siblings, Maggie Sherman, Rosalie (Thomas) Reese, Dianne Enis, and Edward (Fancharm) Gibson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
