Claude Reid Sr. was born to James and Celestine Reid on September
29, 1945, in Yazoo County, Mississippi. During his teenage years,
he relocated to Chicago, Illinois. Claude graduated from John
Marshall High School in 1964. Shortly a er graduating, his
brother, Fred helped him gain employment at General Motors. He
was dra ed by the US Military in 1966 to serve in the Vietnam
War. When his tour was over, he came back to Chicago, General
Motors, and the love of his life, Ms. Alberta Sanders. ey were

“ is means everlasting life, their coming to know You, the only
true God, and the one whom You sent forth, Jesus Christ.”
–John 17:3
Claude truly embodied what it meant to be a servant of Jehovah, a
husband, father, and friend. Family was his number one priority,
and he adopted his mother-in-law, Katie Sanders, as his own. ey
o en went on shing trips and to visit his and her family in other
states. He arranged vacations to Wisconsin Dells, Six Flags Great
America, and other destinations, inviting both his and his wife’s
nieces and nephews. Whether recreational or out of necessity,
the entire family knew they were welcome, and adopted the Reid
house as a home away from home and a safe haven for all who
walked through the door. His family relied on him to solve any
problems both big and small. He once tied a jump rope to the rails
of their porch, when Gina wanted to play double Dutch without
a second person to turn the ropes. When his boys wanted a job,
he supervised a paper route so they could earn their own money.
He supported all of his wife’s dreams, whether attending school
or redecorating the home. Claude consistently remained a pillar
for his family, friends, and community throughout his life. On
ursday, November 7, 2024, Claude Reid, Sr., fell asleep in death.
Claude leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of y-six years,
