Clemmie Harvey Obituary

Like the finest Southern recipe, Clemmie Harvey blended a pinch of sass with generous cups of compassion, creating a life so rich with love that everyone wanted seconds. On July 28, 2025, our Lord called home His most vibrant angel, but the essence of her spirit—in every holiday tradition, every heartfelt “I love you,” every infectious laugh— will forever flavor our lives. She passed peacefully at home, wrapped in the same love she had spent 80 remarkable years generously giving to all who knew her. Born in Senatobia, Mississippi, on April 27, 1945, Clemmie built a legacy of faith, love, and joyful service that touched countless lives. In October of 1973, she married her beloved Willie C. Harvey, beginning a love story that would become the foundation of their beautiful family. She took immense pride in her children—her engineer son, Chauncey, and her daughter, Carcena, whom she affectionately called “Doc”— celebrating their accomplishments with a mother’s boundless devotion. A woman of deep and abiding faith, Clemmie found spiritual nourishment at Living Word Christian Center under Pastor Bill Winston. There, she cultivated meaningful relationships with her pastor and church family that became essential to her journey, especially after Willie’s passing, as she deepened her walk with God. Precious Memories magic and warmth, where children gathered for legendary CPS lunches and snacks—simple treats transformed into feasts of love by her generous spirit. Always dressed with impeccable style, Clemmie brought elegance and grace to every occasion, from Red Hat Society events to Fernwood Park activities. Her boundless energy outpaced people decades younger, inspiring everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her home remained the heart of family gatherings, particularly during her famous T hanksgiving celebrations where love and laughter overflowed as abundantly as the food. Among her many accomplishments, Clemmie cherished publishing her first book, “Stored-Up Tears” (on Amazon), through which she shared her wisdom with the world. Her writings continue to reveal new layers of her profound, anointed spirit through recently discovered poems and journals. Clemmie was the heart of her neighborhood, earning the title of “Mom” by keeping her doors open to all. Her home radiated Faith was Clemmie’s true compass. She began each day with Bible study and prayer, serving her church with dedication while still making time to sing, dance, and celebrate life’s blessings. Her marriage advice—“Keep God, laughter, and excitement in your marriage—it will make a stronger bond”— guided countless relationships. She is survived by her devoted children, Chauncey Harvey (Janel) and Dr. Carcena Harvey Burns (Jesse); cherished grandchildren, Jozlyn Bryson (Matt), Jarad Harvey, Charles Dillard, Jessyca Burns, Kiah Anderson, Bailey Murry, and Cecily Lard; adored great-grandchildren, Kai, A’niyah, Dahlila, Jaziah, and Vanna; loving siblings, Oliver and Cora Norwood and Christopher and Rose Parham; and a host of nieces and nephews who treasured her. From the moment they entered the world, Clemmie welcomed each grandchild with open arms, unconditional love, and just the right measure of loving advice.
