DeMarco Champs Obituary

IN THE FIRST BEGINNING, DeMarco Lavell Champs was born on November 16, 1977, to Betty Jean Champs and Roger Streeter at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. DeMarco, nicknamed “Deacon” by his favorite Uncle Arthur, was educated at William Penn Elementary School and Rezin Orr Academy, where he received his high school diploma in June 1996. DeMarco accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at United Faith Tabernacle Church, where he was baptized under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. Willie A. Treadwell. As a child, DeMarco LOVED going to school. In his adulthood, he LOVED going to work! He also enjoyed helping others with anything pertaining to physical labor. In fact, if he was ever asked to help with a task, he NEVER said, “No”. at is unless, HE HAD TO WORK! He enjoyed spending time at family gatherings, because he LOVED being around them, and the food that was there to enjoy. DeMarco was LOVED by everyone he worked with. He was o en referred to as, “THE HARDEST WORKER IN HIS RESPECTIVE DEPARTMENT!” He was no stranger to hard work, and that is something that DeMarco took great pleasure in. He would o en say, “If a man don’t work, he don’t eat, right?” And he LOVED to eat! DeMarco has been employed at various companies working in the Environmental Services Department. ose companies include Gate Gourmet, Mariano’s, Jewel-Osco, and his nal workplace, Mt. Sinai Hospital. For much of his life, he lived with his special aunt, T-Shirley, who was his caretaker, protector, advisor, and second mother. rough her, DeMarco has been blessed with additional siblings, Steven Champ, Andre Cooper, Sr., and Shena Ewing. DeMarco was preceded in death by his father, Roger Streeter; grandmother, Lillie Mae McNair; grandfather, Samuel McNair; and his favorite uncle, Arthur Humes. DeMarco departed this earthly life and entered into his HEAVENLY HOME on May 1, 2024, peacefully at his residence.
