Delesia Roberta Woodfork transitioned into eternal rest on February 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many. Born on August 2, 1960, in Chicago, IL, to her devoted parents, Proceeded in death by Hisumi Woodfork and Robert Woodfork, Lisa’s journey was one of love, faith, and unwavering dedication to those she cherished. Lisa grew up on Chicago’s West Side, sharing a joyful childhood with her siblings, Maurice and Gloria. She attended Westinghouse High School, where she was cherished by her classmates for her warm spirit and kind heart. Following her graduation, Lisa pursued her passion for beauty by enrolling in Truman College of Cosmetology program. Her niece LaMonda was often the willing subject of Lisa’s hairstyling experiments, enduring countless ponytails with laughter and lovememories that will forever bring smiles to those who knew them. Lisa had an extraordinary zest for life and a talent for bringing people together. She was an exceptional cook, a skilled seamstress, a meticulous party planner, and a dedicated caterer. But perhaps the most treasured of her many gifts was her legendary butter cookies, which melted in your mouth and left an unforgettable taste of love and comfort. Lisa dedicated over 33 years to the Chicago Board of Education, working as a lunchroom attendant before being promoted to Lunchroom Manager. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering dedication left a lasting impact on the students and colleagues she served. After retirement, her passion for cooking blossomed into L&L Catering, a business she co-founded with her dear friend Lolita, which continues to thrive as part of her legacy. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. In 1978, she embraced Christ at Youth Center Church of COGIC under the leadership of Esperdall McGhee. She later moved her membership to St. James Ministries COGIC, where she served faithfully under Bishop Willie James Campbell until his passing, and later under Pastor Chris Harris. Lisa’s voice graced the church as a choir member, and those who heard her sing knew that she lifted spirits with every note. On her final day, Lisa took her last breath with grace, leaving behind a lifetime of beautiful memories. She will be forever cherished by her beloved sons: LaPriest, Laron, and Natuheko; granddaughter Jameyah, her brother Maurice and sister Gloria (Marty); her niece LaMonda; her great-nieces Ariel and Elexus; her great-great-niece Kiyah; her nephews Lamere and proceeded in death by Lamarr; her great great-nephew Lavell; and her granddaughter Jameyah, along with a host of loving family and dear friends. Among those she held closest to her heart were her special friends: Shirley, Monique, Antoinette, and Lolita. Lisa’s love, laughter, and unwavering kindness touched everyone she met. While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life beautifully lived-a life filled with faith, family, friendship, and love. Her memory will live on in our hearts forever. Rest in love, Lisa. Your light will never dim.
