Diane Higgins Obituary

Diane Higgins was born in Chicago, IL, on January 25, 1962, to Annie Lee Higgins and
Calvin Higgins. She attended Nash Elementary and went to and graduated from Austin
High School. Diane was the pillar of the family, and she carried that role with such grace and
goodness. She was a wonderful cook, the kind who could put a smile on your face with a simple
plate or wrap you in a warm embrace through her love.
Lady Di was the goat of the family. She raised her children and grandchildren and so many
others who were blessed to come through her life. Her doors were always open—she welcomed
everyone with love, understanding, and a place to feel at home.
After her mother passed, she stepped into another beautiful role, becoming the devoted
caregiver for her special-needs brother. She did it without complaint, without hesitation, and
with a heart full of compassion.
She leaves to cherish her mother and father, Annie Lee Higgins and Calvin Higgins, both of
whom preceded her in death. Her children were the late Pierre Higgins, Sr., Clarence Higgins,
Keyanna Higgins, Ebonie Higgins, and Aries Givens. Her siblings were Estella Buchanan, Joseph
Henderson, the late Calvin Higgins, Ronnie Higgins (Tiffany), Carolyn Higgins (Calvin), Anthony
Higgins (Arolyn), Bernard Higgins, and Calvin Higgins. Her grandchildren were the late Michael
(Zaveon), Dante, the late Pierre Higgins, Jr., Keante, Zarrianna (ZaZa) Vincent Jr., Randy (Jabari),
Aries Jr., and Ariel. Her special son-in-law was the late Vincent Winkfield. Her special friend was
Gregory Valentine. Her special goddaughter was Tatina Lockwood.
