Dijon Mitchell Obituary

Dijon L. Mitchell was born January 29, 1991, in Chicago, IL, to parents, Shantae
Hartzog and Bryant Mitchell.
Dijon confessed faith in Christ at an
early age and joined Christian Valley
Baptist Church under the leadership of
Reverend Steven Geer, Jr.
Dijon was educated at Genevieve Melody
Elementary School and Charles A.
Prosser Career Academy High School in Chicago, IL. Dijon later attended the Atterbury Job Corps,
receiving a Culinary Arts certification.
Dijon’s first love was his son, “DJ,” whom he affectionately
loved. He enjoyed fatherhood and spent quality time with
his son. Dijon dreamed of one day starting a business and
opening up a restaurant. He enjoyed cooking and entertaining
others. Dijon loved helping people and making them laugh.
He was always willing to offer others an ear and a mouth full
of knowledge. Dijon’s hobbies included going to the gym,
playing basketball, listening to music, fishing, and going to
the casino.
Dijon was the epitome of a charismatic, caring, and genuine
person who inspired all who came into contact with his loving
spirit. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he
met. Dijon touched so many lives; to know him was to love
him.
While Dijon will be dearly missed by all who knew him, he
would want everyone to know that he found peace and joy in
his life. He shared so much with so many. Dijon was loved and
adored by everyone he came into contact with. He never met
a stranger, always had time for everyone, and will be forever
in our hearts.
Dijon made his transition on April 14, 2023. He was preceded
in death by his brother, Kevon Mitchell; aunt, Kattie Wheaton;
and grandfathers, Willie Earl Hartzog and Eugene Martin
(step).
Dijon leaves to cherish fond memories: his son, Dijon L.
Mitchell, Jr.; mother, Shantae Hartzog; stepfather, Richard
Rodgers, Sr.; father, Bryant Mitchell; sisters, Imani Seaton,
Jalessha Sidney (Froknewin Sidney, Sr.), Aisa Rodgers, Tierra
Rodgers, and Daisia Rodgers; brothers, Bryant Mitchell and
Richard Rodgers, Jr.; grandmothers, Gloria Hartzog and
Deborah Mitchell; grandfather, Lewis Mitchell; and a host of
aunts and uncles, his niece and nephew, and countless cousins
and a host of friends who touched his life over the years.
