DORIS VINSON was born on December 18, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Walter and Marie Mitchell. She was the fifth of their children and was lovingly known by her family as “Puddin.” She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Carolyn Mitchell, Alice Perry, David Mitchell, and Sherman Mitchell. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving sisters, Arlene (Enocencio) Garcia, LaTanya Mitchell, and sister-in law, Annette Mitchelle. Doris graduated from Tolleston High School in Gary, Indiana, in 1965. She was a hardworking and dedicated woman who spent over 50 years working in the local mills, retiring from Cleveland-Cliffs in 2022. Outside of work, she found joy in traveling, shopping, and spending time with her friends as a proud member of the Birthday Club and the Red Hatters. In 1974, Doris married Abraham Vinson. Together, they built a loving family and raised two children: one son, Derrick Vinson of Georgia, and one daughter, Nicole Vinson of Gary, Indiana. She was also a proud grandmother to Devonte Vinson and Derrion Vinson, whom she loved deeply. Doris’s strength, love, and dedication to her family will always stay with us. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, warmth, and unwavering care that will never be forgotten. We would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Andrea Johnson and Trasia Jones, for the love, compassion, and support they showed her. And to Sharon Lynch and Frances Webster for the love and assistance during this difficult time as well.
