Douglas Morrow Obituary

Douglas McKenzie Morrow was born in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Mr. Sam Morrow and Maggie Mae Morrow on December 15, 1958. He departed his earthly life on August 2, 2022. He received Christ at an early age at Divine St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a junior deacon and sang in various choirs. On August 1, 1992, he joined in holy matrimony to Victoria Smith. To this union, four children were born. He later joined Kingdom Missionary Baptist Church where he served, honoring his late mother by joining the usher board. He was a faithful member until his health declined. Douglas graduated from Crane High School 1978. He later attended Loop Junior College, now known as Harold Washington College. Douglas then attended truck driver school where he pursued a truck driving career across the country. He also did various jobs driving school buses for Chicago Public Schools. He then went on to work for Rustoleum Painting Company in Kenosha, Wisconsin, for many years. Here he endured an injury which forced his early retirement. Douglas loved spending time with all children, taking them to all the things Chicago had to offer, especially the Air and Water Show, making sure everyone was nice and neat, especially himself, “he never played about that.” He also loved taking care of his loving aunties doing whatever was needed. He was very reliable and dependable. Douglas was affectionately called “Doug” by his family and good friends, and he was “Uncle Doug” to his nieces and nephews. His doors were always open to those in need. Douglas was loved by family and friends. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Maggie Morrow; two brothers, Stanley and Ray Morrow; one son, Nathaniel Smith; one grandson, Breon Washington; and one lifelong friend, Jimmie Prince. He leaves to cherish: his loving wife of 30 years, Victoria Smith; three daughters and three sons, Jackie Scott, Slyvana Morrow, and McKenzie Morrow, all of Chicago, Illinois, LaKeisha Morrow and Gregory Washington, both of Fort Worth, Texas, and Douglas Morrow Jr., of Iowa City, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grands; two sisters, Pamela Hudson (Thomas) of Chicago, Illinois, and Slyvia Morrow of Shillerpark, Illinois; one brother, Karey Morrow (Deborah) of Muskegon, Michigan; lifelong friend, William Myers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
