Elder Audwin Griffith Obituary

As we mourn his loss, we celebrate his remarkable life. We endow to continue his legacy representing the spirit of kindness, compassion, goodwill, and laughter with a heart of resilience through intentional work, prayer, and service to others. I, Mr. Audwin Earl Griffith, was born on March 5, 1973, in Chicago, Illinois, to my parents, Elder Marvin Earl and Ruth Ann Griffith, who both preceded me in death. I am the third of four children and the only son. I attended and graduated from Prosser Vocational High School and took up drafting at Robert Morris College. Growing among my sisters, the late Antonia Maria, Angela Marie, and Anjanette. Known as a mischievous young lad, I was a jokester at heart who enjoyed being competitive in sports. I especially liked football and basketball and a good game of family softball was always the highlight of our annual family picnics (all those t-shirts we collected, LOL). Later in life, I, along with my love of sports, developed a passion for fashion, cooking (man, I loved a good cookout on the grill - music, and wings and jerk chicken were always in order)! My hands were always ready for a challenge dabbling in carpentry and auto repair, just a natural creative you could say. Reared in the church, my love for God can be attributed to my foundational upbringing instilled while attending the St. James Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Willie James Campbell. Later, I joined the Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral under the leadership of Apostle Donald L. Alford. My passion for music and participation in the Progressive Radio Choir allowed me to hear a voice as if an angelic bird was singing directly to me. This songbird would later become my wife. We met in 1997. It was not a long courtship. We were both young, love was in the air, and we knew early in our friendship that we were meant to spend a lifetime together! On December 4, 1999, we both declared our commitment to each other and were united as one in holy matrimony. Our love evolved as if it had been written by the greatest romance novelist of all time. We were friends, lovers, and passionate about each other, and our hearts truly did beat as one. Yup, we remained in love and committed for over 25 years. Our union was blessed with three amazing children: two daughters, Brittany and Autumn, and one son, Caleb. When I thought my heart could no longer expand, I was blessed with my heart’s desire for grandchildren. My two new additions, my grandtwins, Kairo and Benjamin, were affectionately known as “Ro” and “Benji.” My greatest joys in life were my marriage, fatherhood, family, and friends. In 2004, I along with my family united with Destiny Worship Center under the leadership and tutelage of Elder DeAndre Patterson. I was first ordained a Deacon, and later elevated to Elder in 2017. I was a student and teacher of the word, and I truly loved the Lord with all of my heart. My love for my church allowed me to serve in many capacities; however, my greatest joy was serving alongside my wife as co-leaders of the Marriage Ministry. We were a TEAM, a team that hosted many successful conferences and getaways, also offering post/premarital c ounseling a nd a lways f ocused o n f ulfilling ou r Kingdom Assignment by empowering couples with tools to fight for the covenant of marriage. Though I was seemingly quiet and reserved, I continuously sought the heart of GOD. I learned that integrity and wisdom are the fundamental truths that serve as the foundation for principles that I sought after. I was gainfully employed with Comcast, Medspeed as a Medical Transporter and my last job was as a Funeral Director Assistant with D. L. Perkins and Sons LLC. While I wish I could still be with you. You must understand that the wisdom of the Lord is sound, and it is He that concludes all matters. Ephesians 1:11-12 says, “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will; that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.” It is my belief that God received the glory out of my life. I would like to encourage each of you to remain faithful and to hold fast to your beliefs, as the word of the Lord is true. As you go about your lives, your victories will be won through committed prayer and intercession. Pray one for one another, show up, and remain honest; always be authentic, whether it is the best or worst of times. It’s the only time you’ve got! “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort will all longsuffering and doctrine.” II Timothy 4:1-2 “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” II Corinthians 5:8 The earth for me aligned on April 13, 2024, and now I am resting. I leave behind to cherish my memories: my loving wife of 25 years, LaChandra Monique Griffith; three children, Brittany (BritBrat), special son, Keenan, Autumn B. (Babygirl), and Caleb (Joshua) Griffith; grandtwins, Kairo and Benjamin; sisters, Angela Marie Griffith and Anjanette Griffith; mother-inlove, Deborah Mines; one brother-in-love, Brandon Mines; two nieces, Angel Nicole and Taylor; one nephew, Tatum B.; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. I bid you farewell. Thank you for your smiles have been healing, your hugs have been the warmest refuge, and your laughter infectious. I appreciate you for allowing me to be a part of your lives.

Until we meet again, Audie.
