Elder Eugene Harris Obituary

Eugene Harris, born December 5, 1946, in Fayette County to the late Charlie and Lizzie Mae Minor transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday May 4, 2024. Educated in Fayette County, Eugene attended Fayette Ware High School, where he was well known for his competitive basketball skills. Shortly after, he relocated to Chicago, established roots, raised his family, and embraced retirement after a long tenure as a truck driver. In his leisure time, he took up fishing, finding solace and fulfillment. He loved people and most importantly, he loved the Lord. Eugene accepted Christ at an early age and later was licensed as an ordained minister in the Church of God in Christ. He loved talking about the goodness of God, encouraging people, and listening to gospel music. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lizzie Mae Minor; a brother, Willie Lee Minor; and sister, Jeanette Minor. He leaves behind: his wife of forty years, Teresa Harris, who stood by his side until the end. He will also be remembered by his five sons, Eugene Fisher, Garrett (Tina) Harris, Kelvin (Sandra) Harris, Rodney Harris, and Godson Chaylan Storey; seven daughters, Carolyn Bean, Rozedia (Reggie) Moore, Adriane (Jerry) Bates, Arleslie Harris, Tina Cross, Vanessa Cross, and Yasmine Storey. He will also be fondly remembered by his four sisters, Helen Simmons, Evern Turner, Ivy Joy Price, and Gloria (Fabian) Prescott, and two brothers, Ronnie and Jerry Minor. His memories will live on through his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grands, and Eugene’s life was enriched by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. As we mourn Eugene’s passing, let us also celebrate the love, compassion, and unwavering faith that defined his life. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will forever shine brightly in our hearts
