On September 26, 1946, Eugene “Gene” was born in Greenville, Mississippi, to the union of Paul and Assie Halley. His parents were blessed to receive their precious son, who was their second born. Gene professed his faith to the Lord, Jesus Christ, and was baptized at an early age. He was educated in the Chicago Public Schools. At an early age, he married Brenda Winston in 1977. In 1958, Gene moved to Chicago to be with his parents and grandparents who migrated from the south in prior years. He was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church. As a young man, he worked at ComEd for nearly 20 years as an electrician and inspired his brothers to follow that path. A ectionately known as Geno, Gene was adored by his family and friends. He was an avid churchgoer in his early years, who loved to spend time with his family and attend reunions. One of his favorite places to go was Sportsman Park Racetrack. On Friday, January 7, 2022, Gene went home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Assie Halley, and two brothers, Howard and Alfred. He leaves to cherish: his wife, Brenda; one daughter, Zelda; three adopted sons, eodore, Tyrese, and Marquez; four brothers, Paul, Jr., Jerry (Clarice), Donald, and Percel (Stacy); ve sisters, Mable (John), Cora, Gloria (Arnold), Denise, and Teresa; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving friends. His presence will be missed by all those whose’s lives he touched.
