Minister Mechell Wheeler began her journey in the Lord in 1977 at age 7, at Original Providence BC under the leadership of Pastor Edger T. ornton. During her tenure there, she was water baptized and served on the Jr. Usher board and was a member of the children’s choir. At age 14, in 1984, Mechell accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was lled with the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Supt. Earnest Caldwell, Pastor of New Shining Light COGIC. Under his tutelage, she began to study the word of God and grow in grace. Chell, as she was a ectionately called, attended William Howard Ta H.S. before transferring to Austin H.S. She studied Journalism and general studies at Triton College from 1991–1993. In 1989, at age 19, Evangelist Wheeler joined New Revelation Faith Temple COGIC under the leadership of Supt. Corinthias Robinson. Under his teachings, she accepted her call as a missionary in 1991. Her rst preached sermon was titled: “Stand on the Promises of God!” During her membership, she served as the President and teacher of Young People Willing Workers (YPWW), Director of Public Relations, Program & Events Coordinator, Fundraising Committee Chairperson, and one of the inspirational choir directors. Minister Mechell Wheeler became a member of House of Prayer COGIC in 2006 under the leadership of 1st Administrative Assistant, Dr. Lincoln Scott. She served in numerous capacities, including, but not limited to, Senior Church Secretary, Vice-president of Pastor’s Aid, Vice-president of Home & Foreign Mission, President of (YWCC) Young Women Christian Counsel, Purity Class President, Pastor’s Anniversary Chairperson, and Teenage Parenthood Ministry President. In 2006, she volunteered at Circle Urban Ministries Homeless Shelter for women and children under Executive Director Charlena Cooper. She taught cooking classes and employability classes. From approximately 2006–2016, she worked at Hope House Homeless Shelter for men and women. She served as Dr. Scott’s Administrative Assistant, O ce Manager, Community Service Supervisor, and liason for the homeless participants. She also was a Boy Scout/Scout Leader. Mechell was ordained as an Evangelist at Home of Life Christian Ministries Non-Denominational Church where Apostle Charlene Benson is pastor. Under her tutelage, she served on the Ministerial board, as Adult Sunday School and Bible Class Teacher, and Assistant Church Announcing Clerk. Later on, Ms. Wheeler joined Love Fellowship Denominational church, under the leadership of Pastor Sheman Gause, where she was the church announcer. Currently, she is a member of Loving People God’s Way Ministries where Bishop John E Cooley is the overseer and Sherman Gause is the Pastor. She served as Altar Workers Ambassador. Evangelist Wheeler had a certi cate in Drug Addiction and Codependency from (B-WARE) Better Way Addiction Recovery Education, Instructor Doreatha McBride, and a certi cate in Wellness, Health, and Nutrition from the University of Illinois College of Nursing. She also served on the board of directors of the Rhonda Williams Foundation for Teenage Parents and (WCLC) Wives of Christian Leaders, under Evangelist Tina McIntyre-Scott. She was also a liated with the organizations (BASU) Build A Sister Up and Virtuous Me, both under Minister Sabrina Wisdom Brown, just to name a few. She was looking forward to going to higher heights and deeper depths in God until He says, “ ou good and faithful servant, well done!” She is welcomed in eternal rest by her father; best friends, Tynita and Phillip; and loved ones who preceded her. She leaves behind her loving children, Aaron, Courtney, Kailah, and Kyron; grandchildren, Zion, Zaliyah, and Jerimiah; godson, Naszir; mother, Cleola Wheeler; siblings, Anita, Karen, and M’boya; and many other family members and friends. Her legacy of love and faith will live on forever. Evangelist Mechell Wheeler was ordained and licensed as a Missionary and Evangelist in the COGIC, Baptist, and non-denominational faiths. “Monkey,” as her dad nicknamed her, was a divorced mother of four, an aspiring author and entrepreneur, a writer, mentor, life coach, humanitarian, and most of all, a servant of the most High God. She has dedicated 30 years to helping the homeless, elderly, disabled, teen parents, job seekers, and anyone in need. In 2009, she began battling several health issues, however, she yet remained faithful to God, family, Church, and ministry work in spite of this. In 2010, God birthed two organizations into her spirit: WIN Ministries and Healing Hands of Faith. In 2013, the doctors told her there was nothing else they could do for her medically. She was told to get her a airs in order because she wouldn’t live two weeks, but God said, “No. She was not a casualty
