Fayette Kenya Underwood was granted God’s gift of life on December 16, 1975, welcomed by her parents, Anita and Clarence Underwood. Though her father named her Fayette Kenya, she would become known among many friends and family members as just, “Kenya”. Throughout her childhood, adolescence and young adulthood Kenya followed the example of her hard-working, welleducated family. After completing her primary education, she, first, obtained employment at Northern Trust Bank, where for many years she was a valued employee in wire transfers. She then took leave to start a family, giving birth to and rearing two beautiful sons. In pursuit of a more wholesome life. Finally, completing training as a medical assistant, landing a position at Austin PCC as a team lead, where illness overtook her. It was her spiritual training that sustained her throughout. First at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, under Reverend Clay Evans leadership, then subsequently at Mars Hill Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend Clarence E. Stowers, Jr. As with all of our lives, hers had its share of trials and tribulations but to those of us who know she has left us a legacy of joy and happiness. She is survived by her pride and joy sons, Camron and Nicholas; mother, Anita; sisters, Yolanda and Vanessa; another mother, Shirley; another person she loved and called father, Gregory Richardson and sons, who she claimed and loved as brothers, Keith, Kevin and Kyle; uncles, Sylvester and Felton; aunts, Armer Jean, Annie Mae and Ruth; cousins, Felton Lewis, Felton Jr. (Toby), FeLena, Christian, Latreace, Malcom, Anita Marie; and many more cousins and friends.
