Florine Durr

Florine Durr was a fighter. She never gave up. She was the fifth
of six children born to the late Florine Durr (Burrage) and Thomas J. Durr, Sr.
Florine Durr had many talents. She loved to sing, cook, and dance,
as well as babysit for the family. She had a few jobs here and there.
Florine Durr graduated from Jones Commercial High School in
1983. She also went to Robert Morris College where she studied business administration.
Florine Durr accepted Jesus Christ in her life at a very young age
and was baptized in 1975. Florine loved the Lord. She was a devoted
church member. She sang in the choir. Florine Durr was a member of
the New Jerusalem C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Elder Madison
Bowen as her pastor. Florine Durr decided to move her membership
to the St. Luke C.O.G.I.C. under Bishop James C. Austin, Sr.
Florine Durr, also known as Pookie, began to experience many
health challenges for the past few years. Florine Durr didn’t give up.
She fought a good fight. Pookie always remembered and cherished
her family birthdays. Florine loved to personalize the birthday cards
and put money inside of them. On December 3, 2025, God called her
name, Florine, and said "It’s time for you." Rest Easy now. We will
miss you Florine "Pookie" but our love for you will never die and you
shall never be forgotten.
Florine Durr was preceded in death by her parents, Florine Durr
and Thomas James Durr, Sr.; two sisters, Flora Renee Durr and
Annie Catherine Griffn; one brother, Thomas James Durr, Jr.; and
one nephew, Terrance Griffn.
Florine Durr leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Chaquitta
Latoya Durr Carr (Byron), Jazmine Monique Nathan Durr, and
Renee Michelle Durr El-Nimeiri; sisters, Mary Ann Hall and
Armetta Durr; grandchildren, Dakotah Elizabeth Murray, Austin
James Murray, Abdullah Mohamed-Almubarak, and Altaib
Mohamed-Almubarak; nieces and nephews, Syreeta Durr Garcia,
Mario Cintron, Corrietha Bolden, (Lawrence Bolden Sr.) Lawrence
Bolden, Jr., Laila Bolden, Mary Hall (JoJo) Albert Durr, Jumar Durr,
Jumya Durr, Tina Griffn, Milana Griffn, Tyler Griffn, Carson
Griffn, Mardell Clinkscales, King Clinkscales, Jacob Clinkscales,
Thomas J. Durr III, Barron, Ramos, DeShonda Hollins, Kasheon
Pitts, Princess Thomatis, Jacoby Thomatis, Jeremiah Thomatis; and
a very special and long-time friend, Michael Jerome Moore.
