Frances Walker Obituary

Frances Ann Walker was born on August 18, 1952, to the late Rosina and Johnnie Walker. She received her early education at St. Martin Catholic School and later attended Kennedy King College, where she studied automotive technology. Frances was both educated and wise, possessing a remarkable ability to connect with others and love them deeply. Frances accepted Christ and had a genuine love for the Lord. She was a devoted and active member of Way of Life Ministries, Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor D’Atkins Clark, Sr. She faithfully served in the women’s ministry. Dedicated to sharing the Gospel, Frances would often travel many miles to attend church, gladly picking up anyone along the way who wished to join her. A hardworking and dedicated woman, Frances served in various roles throughout her life. She worked as a waitress, a crossing guard for the City of Chicago, and as a bus operator for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). She later retired from the CTA as a janitor. In every position she held, Frances served with love, kindness, and compassion, making everyone she encountered feel valued and accepted. She loved unconditionally, was patient and kind, and chose grace over keeping record of wrongs. Frances had a creative spirit and a passion for bringing joy to others. She had a gift for floral design, creating beautiful arrangements for special occasions, including proms and celebrations. Her work brought happiness to many, and she often gave her time and talents freely, ensuring her family and friends always felt her love. Frances was the loving mother of five children and a cherished grandmother of thirteen grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Derrick Tucker. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Quinnetta Walker, Gary King, Katrina Walker (Edward Walker), and Jerrayna Walker.
