Psalm 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Herman Hill, Jr., was the oldest of three children born to Herman Hill, Sr., and Christine Hill on August 31, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois. He confessed his belief in Christ at an early age. He was an active member of the Garden of Prayer Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend John E. Brown. Herman served on the usher board, sang in the choir, and was a junior deacon. He kept a smile on his face. He also loved being fashionable, wearing nicely color-coordinated suits and ties. Herman had many jobs. He worked at the Dougles Printing Company in Bellwood, Illinois, and as a butcher at 11th Street Meat Market in Maywood, Illinois. He graduated from Proviso East High School in 1974. He attended North Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. On September 2nd, 2018, he married the love of his life, Frances Crouch. He would tell anyone who would listen that she was the woman of his dreams. They were residents of the same building. He admired her from a distance until joining a group that met for games and fellowship. That fellowship turned into, as he called it, “courtship.” Mother Crouch tells the story of while they were courting, she went out of town. As they talked on the phone, she asked if he missed her. His reply was “I missed you before you left.” Herman had game. He was the socialite of the building. Everyone knew him. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Frances Crouch Hill; two sisters, Cheryl Boyd and Tanya (Lee) Czapiewski; uncle, Larry (Debra) Hill (as close as brothers); two aunts, Linda and Barbara Hill; son-in-law, Bryan (Juani) Crouch; daughter-in-law, Stacy Crouch; nephew, Kieron Boyd; three nieces, Karmeisha Boyd, Kayla Czapiewski, and Kyle Czapiewski; sister-in-law, Barbara Wright; brother-in-law, Joseph (Dean) Tyse; close friend, Freddie Wilson; very close cousin, Garrnette; and many other relatives and friends, including her church family, Pastor D. Patterson, and his wife, Patricia, as well as the entire church.
