Jeanette Fox was born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 21, 1950, to the late Etherine Johnson, raised by Robert Johnson, Sr. Jeanette accepted Christ at any early age and was baptized at Greater New Macedonia M.B. Church by the late Reverend Grady Watkins. She later redirected her life to Christ at New Greater Exodus M.B. Church, under the leadership of Reverend Edward Whitehead. Jeanette attended Illinois State Training School for Girls in Geneva, Illinois. She later married the late Phillip Kirksey and to this union, her first child, Sharon, was born. She traveled to Germany, where they stayed several years, and later moved back to Chicago, where she meet and married the late Ronald Hughes. To this union, her son, James, and daughter, Charlene, were born. God ended Jeanette’s suffering and called his angel home on Monday, July 18, 2022. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: two daughters, Sharon (Melvin) Caldwell of Oswego, IL and Charlene White of Chicago, IL; one son, James (Sherry) Hughes of Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren, Janee, Bakari, Destiny, Kijana, Kwesi, and Chinara; two sisters, Rosie Lisa (Edward) Scott of Westchester, IL, and Tina (Henry) Johnson of Joliet, IL; three nephews; two nieces; five great-nephews; two great-nieces; one uncle; and a host of other relatives and friends.
