Jeff “Jerry” Norris was born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 8, 1963. Jeff was the eldest of five children of Ethel Norris. Jeff attended Enrico Fermi Elementary School and graduated from South Shore High School in 1981. Later, he took college courses at Daley College, receiving food service credentials. After working for Wendy’s restaurant for a few years, Jeff became a respected employee at Logistics Technology Services, and later, he became a beloved employee at Melgar Facilities Services at the Kluczynski federal building in downtown Chicago, where he worked for the last 29 years. Jeff was known for his laid-back, calm, and gentle demeanor. For his younger sisters, he was a protective and loving father figure. For his brothers, he was a friend and confidant, bonding over their love of sports. He was a loving uncle/dad to his nieces Talisha and Tracey, who loved inviting their uncle over for cookouts, where they spent time joking around with each other, and them poking fun at him, over the fact he would bring aluminum pans to take leftovers. “That’s uncle Jerry, is what they would say, and laugh. For his cousins, he was warm hearted, helpful, a good sport who enjoyed a good laugh. For his coworkers, he was a guy that would greet you with a hug, a smile, and always had a pleasant conversation. For his mom, he was the light of her life. Jerry was a avid reader and a enthusiastic collector of Marvel and Chicago cubs’ memorabilia. Jeff also loved traveling. Although he visited many places, Vegas was his “go to” place to visit and often talked about retiring there. Jerry started studying the teachings of Reverend Leon Perry III at Metropolitan Community Church. Sadly, Jeff called home to be with our heavenly father on August 16, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. He leaves behind to honor his memory devoted mom, Ethel Norris of Chicago; sisters, Victoria Norris Wilson, of Katy Texas, and Valerie Norris of Chicago, Illinois; brothers, Everett Norris and T homas Norris of Chicago; brother-in-law, Calvin Wilson of Katy, Texas; nieces, Talisha Hill, Tracey Hill, and Shalethea Norris of Chicago, Illinois; two nephews, Terrence “Nicky” Norris of Chicago, and Tyrese Norris of Carbondale, Illinois; grandmother, Minnie Norris of Belzoni, Mississippi; three uncles, Melvin Spearman of Arlington, Texas, Melvin Norris, Ricky Norris of Mississippi; three aunts, Turetha Robinson, Mary Hart, and Linda Archer; and a host of cousins, great-nieces, nephews, and friends
