He accepted Christ at an early age, laying the foundation for the kind, protective, and faithful man he would In his youth, Jessie moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he began building a life filled with family, hard work, and purpose. He and Denise Carter started a beautiful family of six, rooted in love and resilience. Jessie attended Faraday Elementary School and proudly graduated from John Marshall High School. Always striving for more, he continued his education at Malcolm X College. In 2008, Jessie married the love of his life Angela Jackson. T hroughout his life, Jessie worked hard and took pride in all he did. He held positions at Zenith, Red Carpet Car Wash, and Buddy Bear Car Wash, where he became known not just for his dedication, but for the friendships and laughter he shared with coworkers and customers alike. With time and experience, he poured his passion into starting his own car wash business, becoming a trusted figure in his community. But Jessie was more than just a hard worker—he was a man of many talents and passions. In his younger years, he played drums for the smoothness that he brought to every part of life. but unwavering, and his heart was always open. legendary Lil Ed and The Blues Imperials, a time that showcased his deep love for music. He also had a lifelong love for bikes, working on cars, and skating—where he moved with the same rhythm and Above all, Jessie was a protector. Whether it was his family, friends, or neighbors, people felt safe in his presence. His strength was quiet Jessie, affectionately known as “blacky” and “gums”, by his daughters, and “car wash” by others, will be remembered for his warm heart, his rhythmic soul, and his steadfast love for family and friends. His beat may have stopped here on Earth, but the echo of his life’s music will carry on in all of us. Jessie leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Angela Jackson of Chicago; eleven loving sisters, Willieann Ramey, Linda Willis, Shirley Willis, Shirley Jackson, and Leala May Brooks (Mr. Brooks), Rosemary Shumaker, Bertha Mary, Ann Stephenson (Archie), Karen Shumaker, Juanita Shumaker (Greg), Leslie Hall (Earl), Sandra Shumaker (Leonard), and Tasha Lyles (Michael); three brothers, Precious Memories Order of Service Officiating - Pastor Jeff Russell Odes Jackson, Leonard Willis, and John Hughes (Larissa); three sons, Tywain Carter, Jr., Terrence Carter, and Jeremy Carter; three daughters, Lashawn Carter, Jasmine Carter, and Jessica Jackson; 16 grandchildren; and a host of family, friends, and loved ones who will carry his memory forward with love and honor. His dad, James Shumaker; sisters, Linda Faye Jackson, Dorothy Willis, and Hazel Jackson; and brothers, Rufus Milton and John all preceded him in death.
