Jimmie Louise Bracy was born on October 13, 1931, in Helena, Arkansas. She was the oldest daughter of three children born to the union of Charlie and Louise Richardson. Expressing her love for the Lord, Jimmie was baptized at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church in Summit, Argo, Illinois, under the leadership of Reverend Williams. Continuously working for the Lord, Jimmie then worshiped at New Horizon Baptist Church in Maywood, Illinois, under Reverend Carl Hopson and Reverend Gregory Moore. Jimmie served diligently at New Horizon, cooking in the kitchen and singing in the choir. Jimmie began her education in Arkansas and later transferred to Detroit, Michigan. Jimmie’s family migrated to Argo, Illinois, where she joined her brothers and raised her three sons. Jimmie was blessed to love and plant seeds of wisdom into four generations. Jimmie held employment with various employers over the years. While working for Corn Products, she met and entered into holy matrimony with the love of her life, Leroy Bracy. They moved their family to Maywood, Illinois. Jimmie was active in the Monfort Point Marine Association Ladies Auxiliary where she serviced as president. Jimmie retired from Corn Products in Bedford Park, Illinois, after her husband’s death. After her retirement, Jimmie added the Healys to her family. Mike (Pam), Geraldine, Elizabeth, and Amanda Healy became staples in her life. Jimmie was often a part of family milestones with her bonus family. One of Jimmie’s fondest memories was joining the Healys to visit their homeland, Castle island of County Kerry in Ireland. Jimmie enjoyed singing in the choir, participating in family gatherings, cooking, entertaining, traveling, conversing on the phone, playing cards, partaking in fellowship, and listening to music. Jimmie loved to watch wrestling, keep tabs on everyone, tend to her flowers in the yard, travel, and interact with her companion dog, Bacon. God called his angel Jimmie to depart this life on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Loyola University Hospital in Maywood, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Bracy; brothers, Isom Richardson and Tommie Richardson; and sister, Ollie P. Moses. Jimmie leaves to cherish her loving memory: her three sons, Steven Richardson and Charles Richardson (Kathryn), both of Oak Park, IL, and David Richardson of Maywood, IL; stepchildren, Leroy Bracy, Jr., Fred Bracy, and Lenice Bracy; grandchildren, Demetrius (Lynn), David (Sage), Elaine (Sam), Kesha, and Tina; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves a special tribute to: her love family, Mike, Pam, and Geraldine Healy; special daughters, Elizabeth Healy (Philly) Conlon and Amanda Healy; her beloved good friend, Margret Healy of Ireland; long-time neighbor, Mr. Herbert Smith; special friends, Sister Love, Linda Hasas, Sister Jordan “Strawberry Shortcake,” Brendolyn, Sandra, Sister Essco, and Mrs. Berkeley; and one special love child, Kenneth Watkins.
