John Delton Francis Robinson was born on December 12, 1941, in Monroe, Louisiana, to the late Delton and Beatrice Robinson. John was the youngest of six siblings. His siblings, Jalisco, William, Francis, Percy, and Charles, preceded him in death as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents. John received his education in the Chicago Public School system and graduated from Crane High School. On September 19, 1964, John D. Robinson married the late Logretta Martin. To this union, one child was born, Janelle Robinson. John was drafted into the United States Army in August of 1966 and was honorably discharged in August of 1968. After returning from the Army, he received a bachelor’s degree in business from Roosevelt University in 1972. John was employed by and retired from the Chicago Public School system after many years of service. John was a lover of books, game shows, and jazz. He was very family oriented and loved his daughter, grandson, nieces, and nephews. He was efforts. John entered the hospital on March 28, 2025, and was called home on John, “Pappy” as his daughter called him, “Pop-pop” as his grandson called him, “Delton Jr.” as Victoria called him, “Suga-foot” as his other nieces and nephews called him, and finally, “Saush” as his closest Precious Memories Order of Service Sunday, April 27, 2025 friends called him, leaves to cherish his memory: his one daughter, Janelle Robinson of Olathe, Kansas; one grandson, Zabrian Savage of Olathe, Kansas; five nieces and six nephews; a host of grand and great grandnieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Laverne “Jackie” Jones of Broadview, Illinois; special friend of 53 years who was like a brother, Charlie Jones (Pat) and another best friend of over twenty years, Frankie and one goddaughter, Jeanine Jones-Golden (Jimmy).
