Joyce Frost Obituary

On June 21, 1934, Mae Joy Bowman was born to Thelma and Micheal Bowman, Sr. After several years, Ms. Mae Joy Bowman, Mommy, changed her name to Joyce. In 1964 she married Simeon Frost. Simeon and Joyce had three daughters, Danielle, Michelle, and Angel. Later thereafter, Miss Joyce and Simeon decided to divorce, and Ms. Joyce and her three daughters moved to Lathrop homes where she continued to raise her three daughters giving them the love, care, and support of a strong independent mother. Ms. Joyce goal was to raise her three young girls to be kind and loving young ladies. During that time, she began to build a loving environment and gained several friends and family and became an active and pivotal part of the Lathrop homes community for 43 years. After establishing herself in the Lathrop Homes community, she pursued her education in Psychology at Harold Washington College, earning her degree. Ms. Joyce then became involved in Lathrop homes community on a higher standard where she can use her education and degree that will put her in a position to be more useful to her community and became the president of Lathrop Homes L.A.C. Organization. She was the director of food service for the Salvation Army and worked for the Board of Education. Ms. Joyce compiled her education, skills, and influence to provide the love, care, and support for her family that extended throughout the community she served. Ms. Joyce helped establish and operate the summer food program in Lathrop Home community for several years. Ms. Joyce was loving, caring, and supportive to the entire community. She was well-loved and respected throughout the Lathrop Homes community, the Board of Education, Salvation Army, and all the clients she served. Merging from the love, care, support and respect she provided to everyone, Ms. Joyce had established a tree of love and support. After her accomplishments, Ms. Joyce began to travel and see the world. Ms. Joyce loved music and dancing. Her love, care and support she has given this world earned her a happy and prosperous life of 90 years. She was a member of the Saint Bonaventure church for 40 years. Ms. Joyce was preceded in death by both of her parents, brother Micheal; nieces, Thelma Jean, Helen, and Aisha; and her baby daughter, Angel. Ms. Joyce passed away on April 17, 2025, at 9:42 a.m. Leaving behind her two daughters, Michelle and Danielle; her only baby sister, Tanya; first nephew, Ahmad; and one niece, lil Tanya, 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; Ms. Joyce also leaves behind her best friend; Ms. Ethel Hodges; and a host of other family and relatives. We love you Mommy and will truly miss you and your legacy in this family and our community will never be forgotten.
