Judy Elaine Brown was born on January 2, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois. Judy was the eldest daughter of Merchant and Olivia Brown of Pullman, Michigan. She spent her early years in both Chicago, Illinois, and King Williams, Virginia, where she attended elementary school and was taught by her aunt Dinah during third and fourth grade. This experience shaped her deep sense of family and connection. She attended Medill Intermediate and Crane High Schools in Chicago, Illinois, and completed college courses at the College of DuPage. As a child, Judy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, a foundation of faith that guided her life, her strength, and her love for others. Judy married John Johnson on October 18, 1965, and from that union came her one and only loving daughter, Martina Dunbar. Judy and Martina moved to Marian Park in Wheaton, Illinois, in the early 1980s, where she became a well-known and vibrant member of the community. She worked at Citgo Gas Station, Central DuPage Hospital, Zayre’s, and later Walgreens, where her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike. Judy was affectionately known for her infectious fun-loving personality, love of bingo, nightly Boom Boom Room, and the ability to light up every room she entered. Judy’s presence brought life, fun, and comfort to all who knew her. She loved deeply, gave freely, and carried an unmatched sense of humor that makes her homegoing so difficult. Judy loved her family fiercely and poured her heart into raising, supporting, and uplifting them. Judy’s legacy continues through her lovely daughter, Martina Dunbar (husband, Roosevelt of Illinois); cherished grandchildren, Crystal Thomas (husband, Joseph of Michigan), Tiffany Dunbar, London Dunbar, and Deandre Taylor; beloved great-grandchildren, Razarion Dunbar, Ka’nya T homas, Kenzy Thomas, Aydon Dunbar, Jakari Dunbar, and Keiyera McClenton; two great-grandchildren, Khamila McClenton and Kevin McClenton, Jr.; beautiful sisters, Diane Fareed and Brenda Long; two very close friends, Linda Davis-Walker and Kathleen Turner; along with a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whom she embraced as family and all of whom brought her immense joy. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Merchant H. Brown, Jr., and Olivia Brown; siblings, Meredith Brown, Merchant H. Brown III, and Tandalaya Brown; and great-grandson, Joseph Thomas, Jr.
