Kalia Danielle Davis was born to LaDonna Mitchell and Junius Davis on December 12, 2003. Kalia graduated from Thomas Middle School in 2018 and Buffalo Grove High School in 2022, where she was inducted in the National Honor Society and graduated with high honors. During her high school career, Kalia ran track and cross country, and she served on Ebony Club. As a result of Kalia’s academic achievements, she received a full ride scholarship to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she was studying Community Health. Kalia worked as a front desk associate, and she served on the Executive Board for the Black Student Union. She has received numerous medals and accolades for her achievements in swimming, track, and cross country. She was also a member of the Ma’at organization at U of I. Finally, she joined ROTC and was planning on going to basic training in July. Throughout Kalia’s young life, she had an impeccable work ethic. She worked as a swim instructor at the Arlington Heights Park District, manager at McDonalds in Wheeling, IL, server at Atlantis Banquet Hall in Prospect Heights. Kalia was very financially savvy and was passionate about improving her credit profile and investing. Kalia was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Rosa and Annie; aunts, Sharon, Veda, Mayrine, and Faye; and uncles, James and Donnie. Kalia is survived by her mother, LaDonna; father, Junius; sister, Ashley; brother, Michael; nieces, Aubrey and Zoey; uncles, Carl, Sidney, Leroy, and Nick; aunts, Thyra and Pam; and cousins, Sidney, DaRayl, Detra, Jeremiah, Joshua, Isaiah, Christine, Joseph, Cornell, Kerry, Bryant, Leroy, Denisha, Gracie, Torri, Siobhan, Terrell, Timothy, Leilani Khristian, and Khristina. If Kalia didn’t like you, you would never have known. She made everyone feel special. Her laughter and lighthearted personality was contagious, and she had a heartwarming smile. Kalia LOVED traveling and had the opportunity to visit many places including San Diego, Florida, Las Vegas, Arizona, Cancun, New Orleans, Ohio, Wisconsin, the Grand Canyon, Dallas, Niagara Falls, Memphis, St. Louis, Atlanta, and Indiana. She also enjoyed running, watching movies, listening to music, going to the beach, going to Six Flags, and creating TikTok videos with her niece, Aubrey. Kalia is also survived by her special friends and extended family, Angela, Chloe, Lily, Rexroy, Lizette, Gaby, Kalia G., Star, Joanne, Cynthia, Stacie, Raphael, Pauline, Lincoln, Ava, Hudson, Sandy, Iskra and Shruthi.
