Kevin C. Taylor was born on October 11, 1955, to Harrison Maurice Taylor and Bertha Bridges, who preceded him in death. His brothers, Michael Haynes and David Taylor, and niece, Shaneka Mallory-McGee, also preceded him in death. Kevin began his childhood in Chicago, IL with his mom and favorite grandma, Pearl, and aunt, Pauline. He settled in Summit, IL, and graduated from Argo Community High School in 1973, where he was an all-around athlete in wrestling and baseball. Immediately after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged. He was a momma’s boy. He cooked, cleaned, and did laundry like a pro. He was the protector for his siblings, my boss he thought (LOL). He loved to work on cars and swore he was the best mechanic. He and his brother, Michael, loved music so much they formed a band. Kevin played drums, and Michael played guitar. You couldn’t tell them they weren’t Jimmi Hendrix (LOL). Kevin loved playing chess, checkers, dominos, and bowling. Michael, Kevin, and their cousin, Treondras, were partners in crime until the law got after them. He gave his life to Christ at Lifeline Church with Pastor Reggie Royal and shared his love of Jesus at the Potter’s House as well as under the leadership of Pastor Brooks until his health began to challenge him in ways only the Lord understood. He was called, “The Man with Nine Lives” until January 18, 2025, God called him. We really gonna miss you, your love, your hard head, and lots of laughter. He leaves to cherish: his wife, Jeannisse Williams; son, Kevin Rice; daughter, Lakesha Rice; brothers, Kurt Miles and Maurice Taylor; sisters, Kim (Jasper) Mosley and Scotia Taylor; sister-in-love, Gwendolyn Lumpkin; nephew, Ahkeem Torrence; great-niece, Natalie; great-nephew, Nathan; aunt, Phyllis; and a host of cousins, other family, and friends.
