Kim Charise Smith was born on March 21, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois, to Ray Evelyn Smith and James Henry Smith. The youngest of eight children, Kim accepted faith early in life at Precious Blood Catholic Church under the leadership of Reverend John C. Vlazny. She attended Precious Blood Elementary School and Holy Family High School, graduating in 1982, and later earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration and Applied Science from Robert Morris University. Kim worked for the Chicago Housing Authority and Marcy Newberry Association before relocating to Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 1993. In Minnesota, Kim built a loving life for her and her son. Over the years, she earned her driver’s license, bought her first car, and purchased her first home in 2003. She was baptized on April 8, 2007, at Contender for the Faith Apostolic Faith, Inc. She served as a Senior Financial Representative at U.S. Bank until 2013 and enjoyed music, dancing, decorating, and fun times with friends and family. Kim returned to Chicago in 2013, and as her health declined, she was lovingly cared for by her loved ones. In 2025, Kim entered the Pearl of Hillside nursing facility. She transitioned from this life to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on July 10, 2026. Kim was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Keith Smith; sister, Danita Michelle Kibble; and nephew, Mark Anthony Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Brandon Jarrell Smith; sisters, Marie Antionette Smith and Tawanda Smith; brothers, Kevin Mitchell Smith, Mark Anthony Smith, James Christopher Smith, Michael G. Smith, Sr. (Louise), and Leroy Kibble; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
