Larry Leonard Obituary

Larry D. Leonard was born February 9, 1961, in Leland, Mississippi,
to the union of Joseph Leonard and  elma Washington. Larry was
the third child born to this union, and both parents preceded him in
death. Larry accepted Christ at an early age and would o en listen
to the Word of God by streaming it on his phone. In his earlier years
before his health started failing, he loved to help other people in their
time of need; if someones car broke down in front of our house, he
would be out there to help out in any way he could. He had such a
good heart.
Larry attended Orr High School and continued to  nish his education
in the military. Larry served in the United States Army for  ve years
and continued serving and helping others at the Jesse Brown Veterans
A airs Medical Center. Larry worked at the Veterans A airs Hospital
for many years. He loved to talk about historic events that took place
and would o en give us lectures on certain events. He knew the exact
dates on which these events took place. I would tell him he could have
been a history teacher. He would come home from work and tell me
when he met an older veteran from Vietnam or World War II. It was
exciting to him to have a chance to talk with them and ask questions.
 at was one of the best things he enjoyed while working at the Jesse
Brown Veterans A airs Medical Center.
Larry transitioned on Friday, January 6, 2023. Larry was preceded
in death by his mother,  elma Washington; father, Joseph Leonard;
sister, Glinda Gilford; and brother, Robert Anthony Leonard.
Larry D. Leonard leaves to cherish his memories: his soulmate, his
devoted wife of 37 years, who he was with for 45 years, Charmaine
Leonard; three sons, Larry Terrell Leonard (Tarnisha) of Plano,
IL, and Conell Leonard and Quincy Leonard, both of Chicago, IL;
father, Johnny Washington; four grandkids, Nathanial Leonard,
Naomi Leonard, Sydney Leonard, and Delilah Leonard; two brothers,
Joseph Leonard (LaDonna) and Johnny Leonard (Carolyn); loving
aunts, Flora  omas (Earl), Jearldine Luckett, Linda Luckett, Connie
