God called and Latanya answered. Today we are gathered here to celebrate
and carry on the legacy of Latanya Rochelle McBride. Latanya graced Chicago,
Illinois, on September 18, 1976, born to Eddie and Pearlie Mae Dyes. At an
early age, Latanya was baptized at Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church.
Latanya graduated from John Hay Elementary School in 1990. She then
attended Austin Community High School and later attended Manley High
School where she graduated in 1994.
Latanya worked as a D.P.S. at Seguin in Cicero, Illinois, doing what she loved best: taking care of people. She
also worked at Niles Rehabilitation Center as a patient aide. She took care of her mother after she underwent
knee surgery.
Consider yourself blessed if you were able to enjoy any time spent with Latanya, also known as Red. Latanya
loved cooking, dancing, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and family. There was nothing
she wouldn’t have done for anyone. She loved her kids’ friends as if they were her own. She fed, housed, and
clothed them like her own; that was how she became Momma Red. She lived and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Latanya loved looking good, was the life of the party, and lit up the room with her beautiful smile. To know
her was to love her.
Latanya departed this life on April 14, 2023, at 11:00 PM at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park,
Illinois. Latanya was preceded in death by her two grandmothers, Magnolia (Honey) James and Mary
