Latavia Royster Obituary

Latavia Royster was born on August 22, 1977, in Chicago, Illinois. Latavia “Tay” was the
cherished daughter of Irene Royster and the oldest of three children.

Tay’s life was filled with love and dedication to her family. She shared two wonderful children,
Erin Jones and Taylin Jones, who were the pride and joy of her life.

Tay grew up in her grandmother and grandfather’s house, where she was the first grandchild,
along with her mother and mother’s eight siblings. She attended Franklin Fine Arts and
Lincoln Park High School, where she made many friends. Her infectious smile and generous
heart were felt by all who knew her. Tay traveled the world traveling to many different countries
throughout her life. She was a source of strength and support for her family, always putting
their needs above her own. After a long and tough fight, Latavia departed this life in the early
morning of July 20, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.

Latavia was preceded in death by her grandmother, Olivia Royster-Jones; grandfather, Tommie
Lee Jones, Sr.; and aunt, Tina Royster. She held their memories close to her heart and drew
strength from their enduring love.

She leaves to cherish her glorious memories: children, Erin and Taylin Jones; mother, Irene
Royster; brothers, Waybon (Shavon) McConnell and Kalyx Daniels; niece, Iyana McConnell;
nephew, Isiah McConnell; three aunts, Tammy Royster, Tess (Jonathan) Jones, and Terenda
(James) Williams; four uncles, Michael Royster, Tracy (Lisa) Jones, Travish (LaShawn) Jones,
and Tommie Jones, Jr., all of Chicago, IL; seven great-aunts; four great-uncles; relatives of
Marks, MS; and a host of cousins and friends who will forever remember her kindness and her
unwavering commitment to those she loved. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue
to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Latavia Royster will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of
those she touched.
