Lavelle Jackson Obituary

On Monday, February 9, 1976, Glenda Jackso -Carruthers and Leroy Gary gave birth to their son on the west side of Chicago. He was the second born child of each parent, causing him to be spoiled rotten. Lavelle and his oldest brother would frequently visit their father’s side in Arkansas for the summer. While there, they began to learn about Christ. Every Sunday was spent at church and every Sunday his father made sure they dressed in suits. We believe this is where his taste for luxury began. Lavelle Leroy Jackson attended Walter H. Dyett Middle School and Jean Baptiste Pointe Dusable High School on the South side of Chicago. He would go on to pursue and obtain his associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from the Northwestern Business College. At the age of 19, he began his career working for the railroad where he displayed a diligent work ethic and commitment to job for over 20 years. Lavelle used this career to provide for his family.  Lavelle Leroy Jackson was blessed to be a father of three beautiful children who all hold a literal piece of his face: Ashunti Monay Jackson, his oldest and only baby girl; Lavelle Terron Jackson, his beloved oldest son who will carry on the legacy of his name and the name of his late brother; and lastly, Ja’shaun Kemoni Jackson, his precious baby boy. Family was most important to Lavelle. His children re ect the love and light that he added to this world. ey will continue to contribute to the Jackson family tree. Lavelle was blessed to see his oldest child complete her master’s degree which was a major accomplishment for the Jackson lineage. Lavelle’s life goal was for his family to live happy and successful lives, and he did all that was in his power to assist with that success. One of the major ways he displayed this was through the constant personal care and love he provided for his surviving mother, Glenda Carruthers-Jackson, and his late fathers, Leroy Gary and Charles Carruthers.  Lavelle was fearless, he wasn’t afraid of anything or anyone! Staying strong was important to him, just in case he had to use his muscles. Lavelle loved his loud and fast cars as well as his sports. He was a die-hard Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He wore his teams’ apparel on almost any occasion. He was also the assistant coach to his sons’ Texas Ranger baseball league. Lavelle believed in working hard and playing hard. He lived life to the fullest and reaped the fruits of his labor. He loved to laugh (oh, his laugh!) and to be in good company. Lavelle was president of the Chi Town Aurora Car Club and a part of various social clubs where he would meet many people that added value to his life, including his sweet Fiancé, Candice Jones, whom he would spend 20 years of his life with, building an amazing bond all while raising their son Jashaun together. Due to losing his oldest brother early in life, Terron Beep Jackson, God handpicked and sent him spiritual siblings: LaShaun Howard, Jerrin Washington, Danielle, and Yolanda, all of whom he loved dearly. Family togetherness and continuous connection were very important to him.  Lavelle was preceded in death by his, grandmother Dorothy Jackson; his uncle, Charles Jackson and his brother, Terron Beep Jackson. Although God decided it was time to depart earth side, his everlasting love will never be forgotten. He leaves behind his mother, Glenda Carruthers-Jackson; aunt, Yvatte Jackson; sister, Eve Gary Brown; three children, Ashunti Monay Jackson, Lavelle Terron Jackson, and Jashaun Kemoni Jackson; stepdaughter, Imani Treadway; cousin, VelDarrin Jackson; sistercousins, Tonya Jackson Eteng and Keshia Phillips; brother-in-law-cousin, Vincent Johnson; cousin-brothers, Tony Jackson and Michael Jackson; nephews, Terron Lavelle Jackson (Terron Jackson, Jr.), Tyree Marquis Jackson, Randell Terrell Johnson, and Rashawn Johnson; niece, Sherron Johnson; and cousin-nieces, Mechelle Johnson, Christopher McCullough, Kristian McCullough (Brim), and Marissa Lanier
