Lawrence Labrne Calloway was born March 23, 1941, in Brookhaven, MS, to the late Lawyer and the late Lentiel Calloway. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Helen Herring of Brookhaven, MS. Lawrence received his education in Brookhaven, MS. He loved to play football and baseball. Lawrence moved from Mississippi to New York, then to Milwaukee and later moved and settled in Chicago, IL. He was a truck driver for multiple trucking companies for over 40 years and retired from Belmont Plating Trucking Company in 2008. Some of his hobbies included xing cars, working at funeral homes, and he loved to help people. He le a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Lawrence gave his life to Christ at an early age, and until his health failed, he was a faithful member of the Family Altar Evangelistic Baptist Church. During his tenure at Family Altar, Lawrence served as a Deacon, Trustee, Missionary, Brotherhood, Security, and Transportation Driver. Lawrence had a love for music and sang with multiple quartets, Mighty Stars, e Kings, and Queens of Harmony to name a few. is love for music he instilled in his children and grandchildren. He was a bus driver for the Legendary Little Milton. Lawrence and Angela were married in 1982, and to this union, two sons were born, Lawrence LaShone and Jeremy Calloway. Together, they have a blended family of six additional children, Janelle Bryant and Cassandra Washington (Larry) of Brookhaven, MS, Michael Bledsoe (Doretha) of Baton Rouge, LA, Yvette Dotson of Milwaukee, WI, LaTonja Calloway of Vicksburg, MS, Paula Tyler of Chicago, IL, and Lantz Shepard of Jackson, MS. e Lord called Lawrence home on May 14, 2023. He leaves to mourn his loss: his wife, Angela Calloway; four sons and ve daughters (see names above); three sisters, Janice Baxton (Michael) of Staten Island, New York, Delores Lane (Milton) of Norfolk, VA, and Carolyn rasher of Long Beach, CA; thirteen grandchildren, Janelle’s – Jontoya and Zach; Cassandra’s – Larry (Pooh), LaTralvis, and Monte; Michael’s – Dr. D’Metrius Bledsoe and Dr. D’Netria Bledsoe; Yvette’s – Dr. Dontreal Ross, Jamisha, and Timothy; LaTonja’s – Anthony and T’Angula; Lantz’s – Harleigh, Lantz Jr., and Logan; LaShone’s – Tori, Shajaia, and MeKhi; Jeremy’s – Jamia, Jayda, Jeremyah, Jiselle, Jordyn, Josiah, and Journee; ten great-grandchildren; three godchildren, Makiy McGee, Jordan Smith, and Sheena Sanders of Chicago, IL; and a host of other relatives and friends.
