LEONARD ALVIN GREEN JR., fondly remembered as “Ace Cutz” was born on October 20, 1990, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Leonard was christened as a child in New Orleans, Louisiana. Leonard’s parents Charlene Lawson and Leonard Alvin Green Sr., and grandparents nurtured him from the very beginning. Leonard started his early elementary school years in New Orleans, Louisiana. He grew up in the St. Benard aka 7th ward by the bayou. Leonard shared so many memories there with his mom, dad, brother and sister. Leonard’s love for his siblings was huge. Although he was the little brother, he took on the role of being his sister protector and best friend. After moving to Summit, Illinois, Leonard continued his grammar school education where he was involved in the science and arts clubs, showing his curiosity and creativity. In high school, he was a proud teammate on both the basketball and baseball teams. He also enjoyed playing the alto saxophone in the school band, building friendships and memories that would last a lifetime. Leonard also attended services at St. Matthews A.M.E Church growing up. He graduated from Argo Community High School, Summit Illinois. After graduation Leonard left home to further his education at Southern Illinois University -Carbondale and Robert Morris College. Leonard was surrounded by such a strong and supportive village during his upbringing, he received an abundance of love and care during his stay with his cousins Larry and Diann Smith and family, as well as Grandma Willie Wilkins and Aunt Macy Wilkins. Leonard foundation was rooted in love, guidance and togetherness – shaping the kind, spirited man he became. Leonard was truly a gentle giant whose presence left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a great spirit and carried an abundance of love and genuine concern for others, always making people feel seen, valued, and special. Above all, Leonard was a loving father, a role he embraced with his whole heart. Many described Leonard as having an old soul- calm and deeply caring beyond his years. Leonard was a dedicated barber who took pride in not only his craft but also in the relationships he built with those who sat in his chair. Leonard had a remarkable way of making others feel safe and at ease. Leonard never met a stranger; his warmth and openness drew people in, and his kindness left a lasting impact. Trusting and loyal, he was the kind of friend who stood by you without hesitation. His affection and genuine laugh could light up a room and will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him. Leonard’s life was a gift to many, and he developed lifelong friendships that became family. Though he is deeply missed, his spirit, love, and legacy will continue to live on in the lives he touched. Leonard leaves to cherish his loving memories: mother, Charlene Lawson; daughter, Love Green; son Ace Green; brother, Che Hopkins; sisters, Gwenee Lawson; Jhessica Dixion; Nieces, Esarrah Hopkins; Hannah Hopkins; Janiyah Dixon; Godfather, Mike Goins; God brothers; Tarrence Goins, Mike Goins, Jr., Brandon Goins; uncle, Benny Wilkins, Henry Lawson Sr., Robert Lawson; aunt, Gwen Henderson; Brotherly friends, “Robert Sweet”, Alexandre Cannon, Rashad Allen, Justin Brown, Patrick Moye Sr., Lamon Brownlee, Robert Dancy III, Alonzo Kyles, Shaquille Barrett, Kendall McDonald, William Nicholson, Valdez Anderson.
