Lorenzo Stanton Ecford III, affectionately known as “Big Zo” was born on October 5, 1985, to Cassandra Marsh and Lorenzo Stanto Ecford, Jr., who preceded him in death. Lorenzo was raised in church and believed in God. Lorenzo grew up on the southside of Chicago and was a quiet kid. He didn’t like arguing or fighting. If something came up, he tried to walk off from altercations. In grammar school, Lorenzo started playing basketball. He excelled in the sport at Percy Julian High School and caught the attention of several colleges who contacted him to play for their schools. Lorenzo chose Davenport College, where his ball playing skills were perfected. Lorenzo would later have a son, Lorenzo IV, whom he loved so much he took him to college with him. Later, his second son, Lamari, was born. One thing about Lorenzo is that you could barely breathe on his sons. Last came Zoriah, his only baby girl, then things were really turned up a notch. He loved his children so much that if his own mother fussed at them, he would tell them to come sit down. Lorenzo departed this life on December 2, 2022. He used his last breath to let his kids know how much he loved them. Lorenzo leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Cassandra Marsh; children, Lorenzo IV, Lamari, and Zoriah Ecford; two brothers, Johnny Barnes and Lorenzo Ecford; four sisters, Leticia Brown (Marco), Stanisha, Raven, and Lorasis Ecford; one godbrother, Antonio Martin; one godsister, Louise Foster; two uncles, Cardell and Demetrus Ecford; five aunts, Cecilia and Lydia Marsh, Marilyn, Tricia, and Lillie Ecford; four nieces; seven nephews; and a host of many other family members and friends.
