Aunt Lula Mae Lubin was born October 28, 1930, in Rosedale, Mississippi. She was one of 16 children born to Lula and Johnny Kelley all of whom preceded her in death. Aunt Lula Mae lived in Chicago, Illinois, where she married Tommy L. Patton and to the union twin daughters were born who preceded her in death. Aunt Lula Mae loved to dress and was well into her 90’s and was still getting her hair dyed red and nails done. Aunt Lula Mae enjoyed going to resale shops finding the best deals and sales at Macy’s and Dillard’s. Aunt Lula Mae loved cooking and baking and made sure everyone ate. Aunt Lula Mae later moved to Bronx, New York, where she lived for over 30 years. She married Foulton Lubin on November 23, 1980. She attended Greater Eternal Baptist Church serving in the kitchen whenever needed. She was a CNA and worked in janitorial services until she retired. Aunt Lula Mae left New York moving to Detroit, Michigan. She attended White Chapel Church where she cooked and served where needed. Aunt Lula Mae enjoyed her retired life with family and friends until her health began to fail. She then moved back to Illinois with her niece Barbara and later into Generations of Applewood Nursing Home in Matteson, Illinois. Heaven’s Gates opened on January 17, 2025, after 94 years of life
