Reverend Dr. Malouria Holiday was born Wednesday, September 3, 1941, in Poplar Blu , Missouri to Pholonzo Turner and Ruthie M. Johnson. Malouria lived with her mother and stepfather (Hen ry Jones) in Chicago, Illinois. She spent her summer in Poplar Blu , Missou ri with her maternal grandmother, Violet Lovett, who was the head Mother of the St. James COGIC, and her paternal grandparents, Corneilus and Sally Turner, he was a minister at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Malouria re ceived her formal education in the Chicago public schools, however she want ed more options for herself. Malouria met and married Tommy L. Holiday, Sr., on July 28, 1960. ey had three children – Donna, Dawn, and Tommy Jr. Holiday. Malouria and Tommy wanted to provide a better living for their family and moved from the Henry Horner Projects to an apartment on Monroe Street. During this time, Malouria labored at a rubber factory during the night and went to nursing school in the day. She o en stated she wanted her children to have a backyard and have their own home. Malouria saw education as an opportunity to achieve this goal. In December 1971, the Holiday family moved in the middle of winter to West Ohio Street, where they still own property. is was the beginning of her “Community Mom Ministry”. Malouria graduated from Malcom X College with a nursing degree and continued her studies at the College of St. Francis, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She felt the call for more education and went on to get her master’s degree at St. Xavier University with an emphasis in counseling. During this time, Malouria was juggling a family and a busy nursing career while actively traveling and singing with e ompson Community Singers, Jessie Dixon and the Chicago Community Choir, George Mays and the Voice of Praise, and Tim Terry’s Music Ministry. In addition, she worked with many local choirs, including e Faith & Deliverance Outreach Choir, New Bethel MBC, and True Tabernacle Warriors for Christ. is singing provided Malouria with many passport stamps in place such as Johannesburg, South Africa; Moscow, Russia; Paris, France; Jerusalem, Israel; and Zurich, Switzerland. Malouria gained her eternal resting place on Saturday, July 4, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Tommy L. Holiday, Sr.; parents, Pholonzo Turner, Ruthie M. Jones, and Henry Jones; brother, Brad L. Jones; sister, Patricia Ann Rocquemore; and her adopted son, Abraham Cooper Easley (ACE). Malouria is survived by her children, daughters, Donna (Oladapo) Ososami and Dawn Roschelle; son, Tommy Jr. Holiday; adopted children, Robynne “Liza” Cooper and Gregory Easley-Holiday; sisters, Beverly Taylor, Stephanie (Isaac) Fentry, and Angela (Leroy) Brunson; grandchildren, Shannon Maurice, Danielle Seville, Marquita T. (Kevin) Rogers, Donald Michael (Shaquita), Shenetta Malouria, and Tiara Sade; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, family, friends, e True Tabernacle Church, and the Ohio Street residents (where she lived for more than 56 years).
