Marcus Dujuan Poston, the only son of Walter L. Poston and Denise R. Poston Akres, was born on July 28, 1983, in Chicago, Illinois. As a young boy, Marcus was reared in a christian home and was taught the word of God under the late Elder I. C. Grover of St. John Church of God in Christ and the late Elder James R. Adams of Abounding Life Church of God in Christ. He knew the way of God and was taught to pray and call upon the name of the Lord, accepting him as his personal savior. Marcus attended public schools in the village of Rich Township in Park Forest, Illinois. He was a devoted athlete, from little league baseball to high school football, to tennis and diving. He was also musically inclined, playing the saxophone for the school band. Marcus attended Troy State University and became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. He enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 2004-2009 as an Electrical Construction technician. In addition, Marcus immersed himself in both academic and professional pursuits. He earned a Certified Nursing Assistant certificate from Wilbur Wright College in 2010. He achieved journeyman status as an electrician in 2013 and a Bachelor’s of Science Criminal Justice and Forensic Science Degree from American International Continental University in 2013. Spanish, in which he was well- versed, was his second language. Marcus was fastidious about the way he dressed and how he looked. When people laid eyes on him, you already knew he was quite extraordinary! He also loved motorcycles and was an avid rider for many years, earning the nickname “Swagg.” He was a devoted and proud father who loved his two children, Selena and Akyrah. May 27, 2021, Marcus married his queen, Grisel Poston, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She was the love of his life; they were inseparable.
