Marvin was born on Monday, March 15, 1971, to the proud parents of Sylvia and Sammy Johnson in Chicago, Illinois. He was the first-born child to their union. Both of his parents, grandparents, and greatgrandparents preceded him in death. Marvin was affectionately known as “Mane” in his early childhood years when he was with his grandmother, grandfather, and aunts and uncles (he was our WE baby)!!! He was nicknamed by his grandfather who preceded him in death as Paddle Foot (lol). Being the first-born child, he was extremely spoiled by his mom, whatever he wanted he got! Mane grew up in his family building, where his first cousins stayed on the first floor. You could pretty much always find them in some sort of mischief together (lol), where their parents and grandparents would have to put them in line. Mane received his education through the Chicago school systems, attending Nash Elementary and then Austin Career Academy. With a passion for craftsmanship, he pursued and completed his welding degree in 1993; a career that allowed him to build, create, and contribute to his family. As Mane continued in life, he later moved to Rockford, Illinois, where he met Liane. They united in holy matrimony on February 12, 1993. Together, they shared many cherished moments, building memories and a life that reflected the love and respect they had for one another. Although their paths eventually took different directions, the bond they created remains strong and is honored by the family they built together. Their shared journey is one of respect and appreciation, woven into the legacy Marvin leaves behind and to this union, two son were born. Mane was known for his compassion, love, and nurturing spirit. His strength was not only seen in his work, but in his unwavering care for his family and friends. Mane had a passion for sports! At any giving time, you could catch him at home watching whatever game that was on. Mane was a beloved husband, a proud father, and loving grandfather who cherished his family deeply. His warmth touched everyone he knew, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and resilience. He was survived by: his wife, Liane; two sons, Marvin and Travaris, who carry forward his legacy of love and strength; a proud granddad to Alaina who brought immense joy into his life; four siblings, his sister, Tatianna (Robert, Jr.), brother, Sammy LeVar (Tara), sister, Nativa (LaTasha), and brother, Trenier, each of whom will hold dear the memories of Mane’s love, humor, and gentle guidance; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
