Mary McBride Obituary

MARY “AMA” MCBRIDE was born on April 14, 1925, in La
Ceiba, Honduras, to the late Addie and Walney McBride. She
was the sixth of twelve children and was preceded in death by
several siblings, including her beloved sister, Oma. Ama received
her early education in La Ceiba and later continued her studies
at an English school under the tutelage of Mr. Rittie, where she
developed a lifelong appreciation for learning.
Ama was a woman whose life radiated love, strength, and quiet
grace. She was a pillar of support for her family and a source of
comfort for all who were blessed to know her. Although she
helped raise many children, two held a special place in her heart:
Ronnie Frazier, who preceded her in death, and Ron Robinson affectionately
called “Poppa”-who remains forever grateful for
the love and guidance she provided.
Teaching was one of Ama’s greatest passions. Her commitment
to nurturing young minds began in her hometown of La Ceiba
and continued after she immigrated to the United States. Her
influence as an educator extended far beyond the classroom,
reaching generations of children who benefited from her patience,
wisdom, and gentle spirit.
Ama was also revered as a homeopath within her community.
Her knowledge of natural remedies and her ability to care for
others made her the first call for family and friends seeking
comfort from illness. Her home was a place of healing, warmth,
and reassurance-because Ama had a remedy and a kind word for
everything.
Her faith was the anchor of her life. Ama accepted Christ at an early
age and became a devoted member of Independence Boulevard
Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she faithfully served until
her health no longer allowed her to attend. Even then, her worship
never ceased. She carried her faith with her everywhere she went,
sharing her love for God through her actions, her prayers, and the
way she lived.
Mary “Ama” McBride leaves behind a legacy built on faith,
compassion, and unwavering love. She is survived by her cherished
children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of extended
family and friends who will forever hold her memory in their
hearts. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort
in knowing that her life was well lived, her impact immeasurable,
and her hope in Christ everlasting.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the
faith.” - II Timothy 4:7
