Masajji Edward Patrick, Sr., was a caring husband, loving father, dutiful son, playful brother, beloved in-law, and loyal friend. He left this world suddenly at the age of 41, but his larger-than-life persona did not depart with his passing. He was born to Catherine Locke and Edward Patrick on October 24, 1980, in Chicago, Illinois. Masajji attended many elementary schools including Chicago Lab and Morgan Park academic center. He later graduated from Hales Franciscan High School, Class of 1998. He went on to attend Olive Harvey Junior College where he met the love of his life, Kayleen Thompson, and was united in holy matrimony on May 24, 2002; to this union, ten children were born. Masajji’s pride was in being a helpful husband and wonderfully dedicated father, and he shared his passion for raising brilliant and amazing children with his wife over the years. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Masajji. He loved a quiet evening with family and was blessed to have years of game nights and activities with the kids. His love for sports started at an early age and continued throughout his life. In the later years, coaching was a passion which to him was much more fulfilling than playing. He had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily duties. His life-sized personality was contagious to everyone he met. Masajji accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and on June 11, 2022, in the presence of his wife, he took his final breath. Although our hearts are filled with sadness, we know Masajji was welcomed by a Good and Faithful God. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Hisako Patrick of Chicago, and bonus grandfather, David Green of Chicago. He leaves a wealth of individuals who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest: his wife, Kayleen Patrick of Chicago, Illinois; children, Taylor Patrick, Kailie Patrick, Haley Patrick, Masajji Patrick, Jr., Amira Patrick, Zachary Patrick, Leah Patrick, David Patrick, Cara Patrick, and Jaxon Patrick, all of Chicago, Illinois; mother, Catherine Locke; father, Edward Patrick; sisters, Maya Jackson, Morgan Jackson, Nina Locke-Amen, and Laila Patrick; brother, Edward Patrick, Jr.; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
