Mattie (Hardin) Davis transitioned to her Eternal Rest on May 9, 2026. Mattie was born October 9, 1938, a daughter of the late William and Evalena (Callicutt) Hardin. Mattie was a devoted woman of God who loved to sing, cook, garden, and take care of her family and friends. Mattie was known by many for her listening ear, warm welcoming demeanor, and her amazing cooking. Mattie was a strong woman with resilience of a lioness as well as her unwavering strength, protection, and faith. She turned her adversities into a source of strength. Mattie was a woman of many talents who made sure to pass those talents down to her children. Mattie leaves her cherished memories to her sons, Robert (Sylvia), William, and Lenard (Tunisia) Whiting, and Lawrence Davis; her daughters, Delois and Mary Whiting, and Felicia (Anthony) Rogers; grandchildren, Sarah Banks, Dreana, Kewon and Laquita Anderson, Willian Ray, DaMarcus, DeAnna, Lakiesha, Michael, Sharon, Valerie, Franchon, and De’ Asia Whiting, and Antoinette Rogers; brother, Ralph (Sarah) of Youngstown, OH; sister, Christine Jackson of Topeka, KS; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. Her son, Mans eld Whiting; grandsons, Antonio and Antwon Rogers, and Terry Whiting; great-grandson, Donzell Paxton; brothers, Ethel, Bennie, William and eodore Roosevelt Hardin; and sisters, Joeada Clay, Martha Eldridge, Jessie Dandridge and Eddie Mae Reed, all preceded her in death. e family would like to acknowledge her caregivers and close friends, Leslie Cooper and Laverne Tyson, for the love and special care they provided our Beloved Mother.
