Obituary

Michael Tavarus Davis, Jr., was born in Chicago, IL on March 20, 2002. to the proud parents of Michael Tavarus Davis Sr. and Latonya Walker. Michael was known by those who loved and cherished him as “Pimp or MJ”. MJ was the middle child of his eight siblings.
MJ attended Penn High School in Mishawaka, IN where his basketball career began. He later moved to St. Paul, MN where he furthered his education. He graduated DCALS North High School in 2021 and met the love of his life Shamarii Coplen.
MJ was passionate about his video games, but his first love was
basketball. He had big dreams of playing basketball at the next level,
college, however he got sidelined by Covid. MJ then followed his sister
into retail where he worked at Footlocker and then Applebee’s.
MJ loved to have a good time with his family and friends. He enjoyed
swimming, music, cracking jokes, and amusement parks. He shared a special love for 80’s & 90’s cartoons, especially watching them with his dad. One of their favorite cartoons is Transformers.
A special moment between MJ and Dad:
We had gone to Michigan’s Adventures where MJ wanted to get on a ride with his dad. His dad was scared for MJ, but MJ wanted to ride it. Once the ride began MJ just let go with the biggest smile on his face. His dad was so mad and scared that he was going to fall off. When they got off the ride, he explained to MJ why he was mad. MJ laughed and jokingly said dad you were scared huh! Mike just walked off from him.
January 12, 2022, change MJ life forever, He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. MJ was private about his health, so he really didn’t want anybody to know unless he told them. MJ was in & out the hospital for the last 6 months at Regions hospital.
On Monday June 05, 2023 at 707, MJ made his transition home. MJ
was preceded in death by both of his grandmother’s Darlene & Diane,
